Now we have an interesting season! No more undefeateds, three teams that most will agree have a shot at winning it all when the playoffs start on the 12th, four more who could jump up and surprise and three who have a legitimate shot at winning the Toilet Bowl.

One more week to go, check the website for the playoff schedule right now and for the match-ups this time next week!

If 2 teams have the same record, is the tie breaker based on points for or the winner of the last matchup?

Posted By Posted By: TJ
Posted On Posted On: Oct 31st, 2011
Views Views: 4231
First tie breaker is head to head. If three teams are tied and one team beat both the other, they would get the tie-breaker. If the three teams had split wins (ie. burgundy beat silver, silver beat green, green beat burgundy), than it would go to points against as the 2nd tie-breaker.

As Duncan said earlier, he's not going through the effort to make the computer recognize that Green is the undisputed 1st place team, as it could all change next week. If Green wins this week, though, they will be first. Burgundy crushed Silver and can finish no worse than 2nd. Burfundy can only finish first if Green loses and Burgundy wins or ties.

Also -- this just in -- Baby has started to turn the corner. Thanks to Schultzy for "going with his gut" last week and picking Baby for the upset!

I'm asusming you mean GOLD...and it was a tough battle it looked like both teams played well. Besides, both teams missing players, and qb mistakes, it was a hard fought battle that went to the better team.

Last night a kid came up to my door, he was little and he had little mans syndrome for sure. He was wearing a black sweater and was holding a deflated football. I then noticed a few people behind him, with tape over their mouths and no balls. I asked what are you guys dressed up as? The little guy replied I'm Spackman and the guys with no balls are the exec.

A Frenchman, an Englishman, and a New Yorker were captured by cannibals. The chief comes to them and says, "the bad news is that now that we've caught you, we're going to kill you. We will put you in a pot and cook you, eat you, and then use your skins to build a canoe. The good news is that you get to choose how you die."

The Frenchman says, "I take ze sword." the chief gives him a sword, he says, "Vive la France!" and runs himself through.

The Englishman says, "a pistol for me, please." the chief gives him a pistol, he points it at his head, says, "God save the queen!" and blows his brains out.

The New Yorker says, "gimme a fork." the chief is puzzled, but he shrugs and gives him a fork. The new Yorker takes the fork and starts jabbing himself all over--the stomach, the sides, the chest, everywhere. There's
blood gushing out all over, it's horrible.

The chief is appalled, and asks, "my God almighty, what are you doing?"

The New Yorker says, "so much for your canoe, you stupid f**k!"

Little known fact:

In its early beginnings, the WMFL actually stood for:

Wing Man For Life

It wasn't a football league at all, it was a small group of male sluts that would hit the Whitby nightlife hard, among other things. Eventually the nightlife in Whitby slowed down, and the WMFL evolved into what it is today, a Saturday morning semi-competitive recreation, beer drinking league.

If you pay attention though, its roots can still be witnessed in some of the elder members, who initially resisted the change, and has since embraced it. Talking to you Bird, Duncan, and Verville.

this is, of course, true...but i joined the league in its 25th anniversary year - we were actually playing football then. i was quickly taken under the wing of a league legend, woody. woody was spackman before spackman was spackman - if you look closely you can see the resemblance. woody's wmfl was the colonel, who many of you still know today and he truly embodies the wmfl mantra. if you listen closely you will hear whispers that the league should return to these roots.

Yes Duncan we did play good football, and we did all get together after the games and drink a beer or two. Back then we would trash talk face to face. There are not too many players left in this league that got to enjoy those days, especially the mid and year end parties at the Royal. You would have many WMFL players closing the place those nights. Woody and Colonel male sluts, could you picture that(HMMM), mind you they did give it a good shot. This is a good league, but it definitely does not have what it did back then. Times change I guess.

Either the "Male Sluts" comment has everyone at a loss for words or the fact that Silver and Burgundy have both lost the last couple of weeks has made this board very quiet...

So, I see the comment about top 3 then the others... Which one of the "others" has the best chance to pull an upset of those top 3?? Navy? Gold? Orange? Red? Baby?

If you are on one of those teams make a case for yourself... If you believe in one of the others, explain... C'mon boys, chat!!!

My Children.
First off, I want to deal with the repeated comments around 'male sluts'. This is unacceptable and incorrect. I designed the species, and was very particular that men can't be sluts, only studs. Get it right.
Recount of last week - perfect again in my predictions.
On to this week, our last before the playoffs.
Baby/Orange - This game will depend on really one thing, just how drunk Mike Hadden gets on Friday night before an 8AM game. Will married life soften this bastion of inebriation? we will find out this saturday in what will be a pretty decent game that no one will watch but will end in an orange victory.
Burgandy/Red - Having watched last week's red game with keen interest, i have to remark that Wes King is shit. But my kind of shit. Holy shit. 'cause holy shit can that man play football. Sick catches. Didn't really note anything on defense, but Burgandy will not have an answer for this guy with the other King launching bombs, especially if Phil shows up. Spackman loses two in a row before the playoffs.
Black/Silver - normally i would go with Silver without even needing to think about it, but they have looked pretty darn ugly the last couple of weeks. Will wes be there? what about the fastest man in whitby. silver better hope so if they want to put up another win before the playoffs. Black sucks, but they might just pull one out this week. I'll go with Silver in what will be a closer game than it really should be.
Gold/Green - Gold won't get away with what they did last week playing against a green team that is really gelling. Green should win this fairly easily, and if Heath isn't there it'll be hardly worth playing let alone watching.
Teal/Navy - oh my goodness, where to even start. This will actually be a good game, and Teal will need to be almost perfect in order to beat a Navy team that probably only needs to be average to win this. I will go again with my man Noah to take the W in this game and - yes, i am going to do it - to win the WMFL championship.
That is all for this week my children

I will throw my hat in the ring to make a case for Navy.

Offensively we can keep up with the top three when we are on. We have (at least) three deep threats who can stretch the defense and leave holes in the middle to keep the ball moving, while taking a shot deep when there. The only problem is we sometimes score too quickly and have to get back to playing D right away. ;-)

We will have a good shot at an upset if our D can make plays when we need to. In all of the games which we lost, we didn't do much of anything defensively to disrupt our oppenent's offense and waited for them to make a mistake (which didn't work very well). In the games we won, we had several good stands and forced some poor throws.

God,

Noah doesn't like the rain. If we get 3 weeks of playoff sunshine, i agree, navy is a favourite to win. If the rain starts coming, look for Noah to build an ark and hide.

Genesis 11:13
Now the League was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of trash talk. God saw how corrupt the Executive had become, for all the players in the League had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all other teams, for the League is filled with Spackman wannabes. I am surely going to destroy all teams but the righteous and Navy shall prevail.”

It's been a while since I've heard the story, but after the flood wasn't Noah and his chosen the only ones left standing.

In that case, I think Noah would welcome the rain. It's the heathens that will persih in the wake of the Ark.

Go Navy!

With the right players there they can beat anyone. Look for at least 1 upset.....and don't be surprised if they are playing for the championship on the final day.

2 out of 5 last week not so good.

8:00 9 - Orange (Colin) 2 - Baby (T.0.)
Baby on a winning streak beating Red by over 20 points where Orange can only tie them!.

Baby by only ONE PLAY!

9:30 6 - Silver (Wes) 7 - Black (Drew)
Silver starting to lose games maybe they are not that great of a team after all. Still can’t pick against them when playing Black.

Silver by more than ONE PLAY!

9:30 5 - Red (King) 10 - Burgundy (Spack)
Can Red bounce back? Can Burgundy bounce back? If Red gets a full squad and King throws short more often than throwing long then red will win. Burgundy won’t be able to stop Wes King on offence and if Phil shows up he will stop Spack.

Red by ONE PLAY!

11:00 4 - Navy (Noah) 1 - Teal (Chambers)
Teal needs this win bad look for Teal to make a come back

Teal by ONE PLAY!

11:00 3 - Green (Miller) 8 - Gold (Nick)
Can Gold Stop the Great Green Miller Machine? NO!

Green by more than ONE PLAY!

Something happened on the way to the evil Spack empire’s undefeated season! That would be Miller/Wray and the Green machine, who smacked Burgundy silly last weekend. This Green team is rolling into the playoffs with a solid lineup that will be tough to beat. The only thing left to see if whether they can handle the pressure of being the top-dog going into the playoffs?

Lots of good games this weekend, leading into the playoffs next week. Can either of the current bottom 2 get an upset and pull themselves into the top 8? Can the other teams win again to keep the roll going and get themselves into the right position for the playoff run?

3-2 last weekend. 26-12-2 on the season. I should’ve gone with my gut and taken Green last week, but I stuck with Burgundy. Also lost by picking Silver in the precious metals game. Only thing I will say to the smack-talking Silver team is “c’mon man!” Stop talking and show up to play!!

Time to finish the regular season on a high note, looking for a 5-0 week this week.

Henry North - 8:00 – Baby vs Orange

Pierre < C.Hadden, Bradimore < M.Hadden, Brooks = B.Smart, Siekowski > Hendry, Sabadin < R.Hadden, Hubenig < Big Pete, Schulz/Greatrix/Benight/Massey < Hazlett/Harding/Julien/King

Orange won over Teal last weekend, but still haven’t seemed to be 100% on their game. Baby laid a beat-down on Red in what everyone felt was a big upset. Perhaps, but the talent on this team is unmistakable. This should be an excellent game and probably will come down to whoever has the ball last.

Take ORANGE

Henry South - 9:30 – Burgundy vs Red

Spackman > A.King, Katradis = Dehaney, Mike Rafuse = W.King, Elkington < Klassen, Thompson = Verville, Matt Rafuse > Young, Oleksik/Jeune/Roskar = Crouter/Heighways/Scanga/Higney

Both of these teams are coming off tough losses last week, when many (including me) thought they would win. The question is which team bounces back better? I am going to go with the experience of Burgundy, many of whom have been through this stretch-drive before. I like Red to keep this game close, but unless I missed something Burgundy has been the best team in the league most weeks.

Take BURGUNDY

Henry North - 9:30 – Black vs. Silver

Walker < Wes, Carswell < J.Schleiff, Eskins < M.Schleiff, McDonald = Fletcher, Best < Snyder, Dionne > Martin, Carter/Chappelle/Clarks < Clarkins/Lungrin/Meyer/Zmozynski

Hey Silver, this is the matchup desired to get you back on track before the playoffs. Yes, Black is in the bottom two, but they have also played very well the last few weeks, with their entire team showing up. I still don’t think it will be enough, if all of Silver shows up.

Take SILVER

Henry South - 11:00 – Gold vs Green

Nick < Miller, Heath < Wray, Glover = Payne, S.Bird > Carquez, P.Bird < Hanley, El-Hajjeh < Cain, Sederis/Phllips/Hickson = Warburton/Neznik/Wodd/Highney

Well, well, well. Two big winners last week. Nick’s Gold team has been getting great attendance the last few weeks, which has led to some better games. Hopefully they will get it again this week, because if they do they will have the talent to put up a good fight. Green is rolling along, looking so solid for a deep playoff run. While Gold will put up a good fight, I can’t pick against the hot hand of Miller…

Take GREEN

Henry North - 11:00 – Teal vs. Navy

Walker < Noah, Carswell < DaSilva, Alexander < Matthews, Hackett > Quane, Marshall < Imai, Morris = McCaskie, Newberry/McKeon/Livingston/Blandford/Curci = Benson/Fowler/Dunnett/Charmley

Teal is certainly not giving up. They put up a tough fight against Orange last week, but in the end couldn’t finish the job and win the game. Navy has won 2 in a row and want to make it three and enter the playoffs on a big roll. Noah is starting to feel it with this lineup, which could be very dangerous in the playoffs. To answer the question posted earlier this week, this is the team that I think could roll all the way into the finals. They have experience and some of the winners from last year, who want to do it again and prove it wasn’t just a Hadden-thing last year. They can play great D and will show it again this week.

Take NAVY

BTW, not to question the ultimate authority, but when I read your column last week and compare to the actual results I am not sure you are a perfect GOD! Perhaps you should call some experts up in heaven with you to help. "Jimmie the Greek" is there isn't he? May be he can help...

Last week of the season, then the actual fun begins!! Enjoy what looks to be a beautiful morning for football on Saturday! Have fun and remember to leave it all out on the field boys!!

Henry North - 11:00 – Teal vs. Navy

Chambers < Noah, Blanche = DaSilva, Alexander = Matthews, Hackett > Quane, Marshall < Imai, Morris = McCaskie, Newberry/McKeon/Livingston/Blandford/Curci = Benson/Fowler/Dunnett/Charmley

Teal is certainly not giving up. They put up a tough fight against Orange last week, but in the end couldn’t finish the job and win the game.
