We're 2/3 of the way through the season and it's still anyone's to win. The schedule-maker has once again done it, with the two top teams set to meet in the final week of the season, although there's the matter of a couple games each before then, so this is a good time to pat oneself on the back. I think the only thing that we seem to know for sure is that the Broncos are all but mathematically eliminated from the top 8, so no repeat for Miller this year and it's looking like the Steelers will join them in the bottom 2 out of contention.

I missed the mid-season festivities, I'm sure they were excellent as usual. I don't have the winners of the various competitions to post here, perhaps someone can post them for me?

Big game this week looks like Ravens-Cowboys, although there are others that could upset the applecart like a Giants upset of the first-placed Packers (yes Snyder, this would be an upset) or a Redskins 66-64 win over the 49ers (how many points does Noah have to score in order for them to win?).

Looking forward to getting back out there this week, seeya on the field!

I won the QB and the Fastest Man in Whitby competitions. I was disguised as the Z when i did it, but i don't believe such a technicality should matter, do you?

Here is the recap of the Packers-Broncos game from last week.

Packers won, 'nuff said.

There Tim, you don't need to trouble yourself and write anything.

Mid-season Skills Competition Winners are:

QB - David Zmozynski (What's with the receivers taking the QB honors?)

Field Goal - Mike Hadden

Punt - Wes King

Fastest Man - Jordan Hischer (Dave Z came in first but since he can't win two events...)

Sorry Snyder, no Guinness for you.

Congrats guys!

I should have known better to play in the NFL and also moonlight as a QB in the WMFL ... I tweaked my tricep against the Giants trying to throw long, and it came out a little like a punt. Didn't think about it again until it tore, and now I'm out for the NFL season. As for the WMFL, I'll still give it a whirl 'cause I'm super competitive and just love football.

Like our NFL matchup this past week, the WMFL Ravens will take out the WMFL Cowboys in a close one. I suspect that Dave Spackman would have better clock management skills than the oft-criticized Tony Romo, but I also know that the WMFL Ravens play tougher defense than our NFL cousins, so we'll consider that a wash and stick with a 2 point Ravens victory.

I gotta head out to rehab ... gotta make sure the arm is good enough to hit the field Saturday!

Ray,

We definitely missed you on Saturday. Glen did a great job filling in for you, but both our O and D had some struggles and bonehead plays. Get that tri looked after.

Noah would need to score over 100 points to win, because he throws picks all day

Chris, err, I mean Patrick,

A little lesson for you. Sometimes picks are necessary in order for me to get the offense back on the field as fast as possible. A pick 6 against us is less deflating than having our D scored against. Do you remember when we played in the finals a couple of years ago and we had the ball ready to score late in the game? You were wide open in the corner of the endzone and I seemingly incredously threw the ball to a wide open TJ who was covering no one. I then faked a knee injury in a poor attempt to tag him and he ran the ball 100 yards back for the pick 6. Complete strategy. Clock management. Tired him out, got them overconfident. What happened? We won with no time left. Sometimes I throw picks to get in the other team's head. A few years ago I threw Drew a record 4 interceptions in one game. Drew!!? The guy has all sorts of trouble with a 10 yard hook (you know what I'm talkjing about TJ right?).

This got him overconfident and he thought he could do that all the time. He jumped so many patterns next time we played him, he was my pump fake's little bitch. Same thing with Tank this year. I threw him 3 when we played Raf. I tried more, he just couldn't catch them. Watch what happens in the playoffs if we play them. The game within the game my fiend. You keep doing what you do, streaking down the field, catching TDs, reeking havoc for opposing QBs. Its important stuff, it really is. And you do it quite well. But seriously, leave the mental part of the game to me. So on Saturday when you see a seemingly flutter ball headed your way for an easy interception, think twice, it may not be what it seems.

- Noah

Patrick Willis, what Noah is saying might sound strange, but I think it's true. From one #52 MLB to another, that Noah is craftier than you might think. TJ was, indeed, gassed after that interception, which for the record would have been 110 yards, as we play on a CFL field. It also involved racing from the right side of the field down the left sideline, so it was more like 370 yards.

So when Noah looks right at you with that glint in his eye, just bat the ball down and wait for the third down punt that is never going to come. You still get the turnover and field position, and you aren't exhausted from the effort.

Lesson learned, crafty vet ... lesson learned.

So lately, I've been getting my posts in a little late, ie. Friday nights right before the game. So one night in advance, I will state that I will have 2 INT on Saturday to continue my interception streak that started with a 3 INT game against Noah.
We have to much speed on the team to get beat deep by Adam and his gunslinger mentality.
I also notice the board has been quiet with game picks this week. WHERE ARE YOU GRAPES!? I need to be chosen over King's 3rd overall pick. We can't just let everyone assume I am better. Someone has to say it!

Picks for week 7.
I still don't know everyone in the league so for me to make a complete comparison would be inaccurate so I will just state who the big play players for each game will be.

0800 PACKERS vs STEELERS
Winner: Packers
Packers: Ben Payne
Steelers: T.O.

0930 North GIANTS vs PATRIOTS
Winner: Patriots
Giants: Giorgio Mikos (Maybe Snyder if he can put up numbers like last game)
Patriots: Who do you think?

0930 South COWBOYS vs RAVENS
Winner: Ravens
Cowboys: #88
Ravens: Matt Rafuse

1100 North 49ERS vs REDSKINS
Winner: 49ers
49ers: Chris Heath
Redskins: Matt Siekowski

1100 South BRONCOS vs BROWNS
Winner: Browns (Sorry Miller but it's just not your week)
Broncos: Phil Dehaney (If he is active)
Browns: David Zmozynski (Just too fast)

So there are my first ever picks. I plan on going perfect this week although I would like to see some upsets (Giants/Broncos/Redskins).

Noah, Tank - love the posts. I am a little disappointed that #1 villain, #88, has been so silent. Where you at Dez?
Mike, since the (unreasonable) league refuses to recognize my skills competition success while in my 'Z' suit, I suppose I will have to drink your beer a different way. A little gentlemanly wager? Loser of Saturday's game owes the winner a pint of Dublin's finest at the year end shindig?
Now, before you take that wager I should advise on two things:
First, prior to immigrating to Canada from Saskatchewan Klassen was a Commando in their Special Forces - the infamous Grain Gang. His specially was demolition.
Second thing, our intel gathering this week has revealed that There is only one brewery in Canada that produces Guinness.
Haddens - don't make Craig do it.
So, Giants GUARANTEED this week.
Also, props to the league for The great spread last week, to the chefs - steve o, Ricky, $ - and also to the Z for the truly amazing catch he made at the end of our game.
Lastly. I am hoping that Spack will consider another run for office. This time 'kill the seagulls'!

Schultzy has officially retired from picking the WMFL games. He is struggling with his CFL and NFL picks and will not come back to pick these games until he gets his head out of his ass with regards to those picks…

My three stars for last week are:

3> Big Z – Officially can’t win twice in skills, but he did, not matter what the results say. Doesn’t get higher ‘cause his team couldn’t beat the Giants…
2> TIE: G.Clarkin Ravens, Jomo Cowboys, both lost, but both filled in for absent QB’s which is never easy. Hats off to anyone who does that…
1> WMFL Executive – Another fun mid-season day had by all who attended. Great burgers with cheese and peameal on them… Had my bypass on Sunday!!

3-2 last week, making me 7-4 so far in two weeks. Much better than Schultzy’s 6-13 record over the first 4 weeks.

Let’s try again. With the NHL and NHLPA still not really talking to one another in the same language, I got nothing better to do…

Henry North - 8:00 – Packers vs Steelers

Rafuse vs King --- Mike R is one of the best the league has to offer. Especially since he has a solid, solid team that he is confident in, which means he can just relax and sling it. Adam is not playing particularly well this season, and I think needs to try and focus on slowly and methodically moving his team down the field. The Packers D is very underrated and will get some picks off of him this week. Advantage: PACKERS
Wray vs Pierre --- Finally someone to match up against Tim that might be able to stay with him. Pierre is sold all-around as is Tim. This matchup is a saw-off… Advantage: EVEN
Payne va W.King --- The Packers have the bodies to be able to cover big Wes. Could be Payne, could be Cain, could be Katradis, could be Rafuse. I don’t see Wes getting open much this week, but he will probably make one fantastic catch in full coverage, like he usually does. Advantage: EVEN
Katradis vs Staff --- Lots of talk from our boy Frank this week on the website. Too much talk, someone will put him in his place eventually, but it isn’t going to happen this week. Advantage: PACKERS
REST OF THE TEAM – As I have said before, the Steelers bench is solid, but the Packers are even better if their guys show up. An 8 AM game might be a test… Advantage: PACKERS

PICK: PACKERS win easily…

Henry South - 9:30 – Ravens vs Cowboys

Bradimore vs Spackman – Both were AWOL last week and both teams struggled. T.J. has been playing much better this year, but Spack is still the better QB. Advantage: COWBOYS
Blanche vs Wong --- Ben is better and if he just doesn’t try to lateral the ball will be able to score in this one… Advantage RAVENS
Rafuse vs Glover --- Young Rafuse is playing really, really well. Both of these players can cover and play solid, solid ball. Advantage EVEN
Walker vs Bird --- This should be a solid matchup, with Drew’s D really shining. However, Bird has the skills on both sides of the ball. Advantage: COWBOYS
REST OF THE TEAM – Two very good benches which have played key roles in both teams games thus far. I think Toast and the Clarkins are a bigger advantage for the Ravens, but again it will all depend who shows for both teams… Advantage: RAVENS

PICK: Should be a good game, but I will go with the RAVENS
Henry North - 9:30 – Giants vs Patriots
Mikos vs C.Hadden --- As I stated last week, Nick has been playing pretty well this season. Colin has a team that he is extremely comfortable throwing to and when that happens he plays his best. Advantage: PATRIOTS
Carswell vs M.Hadden –Carswell will put up a fight, as he always does, but Mike is still probably the best player in this league. Advantage: PATRIOTS
Hischer vs DaSilva --- Congrats to Hischer on winning the fastest man last week. Your prize is a matchup against Dasilva. Hope you tape your ankles!! Advantage: PATRIOTS
Klassen vs Matthews --- Klassen is having a great season, even though he seems to be inexplicably linked to Snyder in most discussions… Matthews plays solid and has some speed that Craig doesn’t. Advantage: EVEN
REST OF THE TEAM --- Young Mikos and Mario seem to be Nick’s main targets and are critical to the Giants success. For the Pats, R.Hadden, Sabadin, Marshall and SteveO are big players too. Advantage: EVEN

PICK – PATRIOTS should run away with this one…

Henry South - 11:00 – Broncos vs Browns

Miller vs Meyer --- Miller is really, really struggling this season. His ball just doesn’t seem to have the same zip on it as last year. One of these weeks he will put it together. Ryan is winning the ones that everyone thinks he should and losing some tough ones. It’s a learning experience. Advantage: BROWNS
Dehaney vs Zmozynski –I am looking forward to seeing this matchup. Phil is playing so well this year, especially on D. Can he hang with the speed of Z? He many be one of the only ones in the league that can. Advantage: EVEN
Gautama vs Schleiffer --- Big guy vs big guy. Mike has been playing so well this year for the Browns and Neeraj is usually good for a bunch of solid catches every game. Advantage: EVEN
Hanley vs Desouza --- This is another close matchup. These two teams seem to be really even in their top picks. Advantage: EVEN
REST OF THE TEAM --- The Browns have the experience of Smart and Julien, not to mention the Clarks. For the Broncos, has anyone seen Duncan??? Paging the Duncmaster… They have experience here as well, close to the same level as the Browns with the Hazletts, Dunc, Neznik and others. Advantage: EVEN

PICK: This should be a close game, but the Broncos luck has not been good this year, so I will take the BROWNS

Henry North - 11:00 – 49ers vs Redskins

Chambers vs Tumin --- Chambers is really, really energized by his team this year. He is riding a wave of success that he has never had in the league before. Noah seems to be up and down and despite what he states on the board, his interceptions are NOT part of the plan… Most years this is an easy one, but not this year. Advantage: EVEN
Heath vs Anton --- Heath is talking a bit this week. Should make an interesting game… He has the advantage here. Advantage 49ERS
Schleiffer vs Siekowski ---- I have been impressed with the quality of play from both of these guys this year. On the end, I think Jay has a little more speed on his side. Advantage 49ERS
Hendry vs Higney --- Higney is probably playing better than any other Redskin this year. Hendry is good, but I think Higney is playing better right now. Advantage: REDSKINS
REST OF THE TEAM – The young inexperienced Redskin bench meets Miguel, Timmy, Sami, Phil and the other experienced 49er bench men. Advantage: 49ERS

PICK – Noah will put up some points, but the 49ERS will win fairly easily

Still a little early to be thinking about the playoff possibilities. Perhaps I will talk about that next week.

Perhaps I will compare Snyder and Frank to Bettman and Fehr? Don't you just wish both of them would shut-up??

8:00 2 - Packers (Raf) 3 - Steelers (King)

It’s hard to believe that this Steelers team has such a poor record But King will not listen to advice from me or the board. Keep it short. If you don’t Rafs 2- 4 defenses will just have a field day. /Raf looks good out there this team is solid

Packers By more than ONE PLAY

9:30 5 - Giants (Nick) 7 - Patriots (Colin)

Nick Back on track with his big win last week against the Browns. Hadden’s still on a roll

Patriots By More than ONE PLAY

9:30 10 - Cowboys (Spack) 6 - Ravens (TJ)

Last week if these two teams played it would have been the battle of the backup QB’s . But I’m assuming both QB’s will be back. Will Spack Find a mismatch against TJ’s D ? Nope Will TJ keep his momentum? Yep

Ravens By ONE PLAY

11:00 9 - 49ers (Chambers) 4 - Redskins (Noah)

Noah Vs Chamber . Chambers Has proven to be a top QB this year even though his passes are a little wobbly. I think his receivers have adjusted. Noah finally setting in with his team. 49ers will win with the last playoff the game a 45 yrd FG by Chambers

49ers with ONE HALF OF A PLAY

11:00 8 - Broncos (Miller) 1 - Browns (Ryan)

Miller will finally get his win this week as the Brown’s will fall again the week
Congrats Miller I have faith in you.

Bronco's by more than ONE PLAY
