Hi everyone,

I'm running the football programs at Dwyer and looking for positional coaches for our Junior Varsity team. High school football and sports in general have taken a huge hit in the last year, and football has always relied on community coaches to help out. There are only two teams operating programs this year, but we're trying to keep things going at the grass roots. If anyone is interested or knows someone who may be please have them contact me. I'll be the one dropping a corner route to the left. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to leave contact info here but reply and I'm sure it'll work out.

We are another week into the season and those who pay attention are starting to see more and more clearly how things will end.
Some things noticed, and discussed on the hill:
- Glenn threw a pick to Murgotron, who had a clear path for 6. Murgotron goes, but Glenn, coming from nowhere chases Murg down saving the day. Andrew Murgotron, C’mon man!!
- it is a mistake to throw anywhere near Jamie. Dude is a stud on D. Can’t wait to see how dominant Carolina blue will be when he gets back to playing on O.
- red didn’t do too hot on D, without the Jesus in attendance. Can they figure that out in the event he needs to focus on O in the playoffs?
- black looked sneaky good against a top QB in Jelani, and with TJ out with injury. They had something like 6 picks on Jelani, and Jack is showing he’s the real deal slingin’ against good defended.
- white does not look like a fun team to play for. Was there a smile cracked by anyone on that team?

Who do we got so far?

Jesus - fabulous rookie QB showing so far.

Bryce - outplaying his draft slot by a mile

Jamie - 9 picks in 4 games and up there in league scoring

Snyder - any mvp list has to include him

Giorgio - Having a great year

Jack - Another rookie QB having a season

Anyone else?

@midseason. I can jive with your list, except for Snyder. That dude is trash. Maybe he’s the most most valuable dumbass. My guess is adding him in was a joke, right? Haha.

Wow truth. Clearly you need someone to wheel you out for a BM, which you’ve held in so long no doubt it’s toxified into your bloodstream thus explaining why your every breath fills the room with fart. Shut your mouth!

As for MVP - your list is pretty good. How do you not recognize Danny and Wyatt? Couple of sacmasters, and only a few weeks into the season numbers higher than I remember by end of season since we started counting. Game changers bringing a new dimension to the WMFL!

Danny has also only played three games. Guy is averaging over 2.6 sacks per game. That’s an MVP level season right there if he keeps it up.

Great about having two new stud QBs is lots of QB talent in this league..

Kyle has competed every year and is defending champ
Jelani has been to finals 3 of last 5 years and won 2
Noah has been to finals 3 of last 5 years and won 1
Spack is always at top and has a recent championship
Now we got Jesus and Jack favourites this year. Drew and Glenn showing signs of breaking out too Great league

Week 4 reaction
Where Colin was Right! Where Colin was Wrong.

Noah (Blue) vs Red (Jesus)
Weird game here, not as predicted with jesus being absent. I guess I picked the game correctly since I picked blue but I thought it would be a one score game so ill say I was wrong. Hard to get much of a read here on either team. Blue played well as expected and as they should have. Jamie did Jamie things, yawn. Red should have still held their own on D, even with only 7 guys. Someone in the chat said jesus means a lot to the D. Yes he does, but not only as a defender, but also moving the ball is key so your O isn’t in bad spots. Blue did a good job bottling up Rocca and TO though. Bryce may have to try QB next year even though he is the top scorer this year, great arm makes it fun for everyone on the team as long as he practices reading the D and calling plays. The end of the story here though is that the Blue train keeps rolling. I still don’t know what to do with red, they are still a top 4 team. By the way, I called it that Danny was a sack master in the preseason.

Grey (Jelani) vs Black (Jack)
Definitely got this game wrong wow. Picked Grey to win a lower scoring game, opposite. Black wins a higher scoring matchup. This really confuses me, my predissor never made this many mistakes. Grey was supposed to be awesome on D and shut down the young buck Jack. Nope, 34 points for jack. Jack showed they can score against anyone I think. People may slam grey for playing poor D but I think it is more of a case of credit to black rather than slamming grey’s D. Steamboats really make a difference, so the offenses should be able to score, specially when they have a multitude of receivers to target and not just one who can be shut down. Black’s D up until this point was supposed to give up a ton of points like they usually do, but nope I got that wrong also. Grey struggled to keep up. They had their chances also. Again I think this is more of a case of not Grey being a weak team but perhaps not taking their opponent seriously and also Black is stronger than people think. Definitely stronger than I thought as I had them last in the preseason rankings and here they are, top 4 in the standings.

Yellow (Glenn) vs Royal (Drew)
Got this game wrong also, but I predicted the low scoring nature of it. Congratulations to Royal for getting the W. Really proving me wrong as I had them to be a basement dweller all season and here they are with a tie and a W through 4 games. While I thought Yellow would be middle of the pack with Glenn and Frank and vets tim and ben. But nope they sit at the bottom with team white. I don’t know what to see about these two teams. Yellow is clearly struggling more than royal at this point but both still have a lot of work to do to get in the conversation as a contender. I do think both have the potential to ruin someone’s season come round robin time though. Actually everyone does, all teams seem to pose a threat this year. Blue should be bristling with confidence and play hard in the final stretch of the all important regular season. Yellow will play even more emotional and angry at the helm of their leader Frank and look for a win for confidence before playoffs. Rough week ahead for yellow though with blue ahead, Royal could have something interesting vs red.

White (Spack) vs Pink (Kyle)
HEY GUYS! I got a game prediction right!!! I said Pink would win by 12, they won by more but that counts for me since no one makes the spreads anymore. No excuses for white this time, they had a lot of guys there it looked like, hurt or not. Kyle continues to prove he is a championship calibre qb, just honing his craft until the playoffs roll around. Team white had no answer for the pink squad, allowing 44 points! G and Neeraj did their thing but Kyle doesn’t pick favourites he throws to whoever is open. The D was able to lock down team white holding them to an abysmal 18 points. Again, not much to say here. Pink was the better team and looks to be a contender still even with a slip up here and there in the regular season they still score a bunch always, their D showed up this day though. Team white has some work to do, now that they have their squad showing up they need to turn around their misfortunes as they play my preseason bottom 3 in their final 3 games. Although none of those teams are any easy match for a team that is currently dead last.

I was 1 for 4 on the picks again , and 8 for 16 on the season, ouch.

New rankings
Power rankings after 4 weeks
1) Blue- Undisputed top dogs still
2) Pink- Good win and I think they have the guns for this
3) Black- who would have though they are top 4 at this point?
4) Red- hard to drop them out of the 2nd spot too far after a loss without their qb
5) Grey- Still an excellent roster but not top 4 atm
6) Royal- looking good with a W
7) Yellow- they look better than white so far!
8) White- common man!

This weeks Week 5 Picks

Jesus (Red) vs Drew (Royal)

Both teams coming off of opposite results last week. Red is shocked taking their first L and Royal is riding high on their first dub. In the QB matchup I have to go with Jesus for Red, in his 3 starts this year he has looked stellar and his D ability really helps as well. Drew is no slouch though as he took down yellow last week. Tyler and Murg vs TO and Rocca is very very close in the preseason id say, but Rocca has looked dominant when Jesus is throwing to him and he may be the difference in this one. Tyler is playing back to his normal standards now, Murg also, both athletic big athletes which will be tough for Rocca and TO to cover. Murg and Tyler will struggle with TO’s crisp routes and Rocca’s speed in the open field though. Both groups will struggle on D, but take red because of Rocca. Bryce is dominant this year and outmatches Jake for sure, ad to red. Mark, Edwards and Danny can take will, jj and ben. JJ and Danny are standouts in this group of six but I like red with Edwards playing well and Danny making a name forhimsef on D. The late picks are close but Ill take Royal with Tim and Scott over Higney. Red should get their offense back going here as I don’t see Royal having any answer for jesus and his top 3. On the other hand, Royal wont be shut out here I don’t think but the Red D should get back on track with good field position all game and they can find some matchups for tyler murg and jake as TO can take one of the big bodies, Jesus the other, Rocca can take jake, then they still have Bryce on D. Red has so many options on D its nuts. Red gets back on track here, stay safe for the skills comp boys! No disrespect to royal, just a bad matchup I think for you, they have the big bodies to matchup with you.
Red wins easily 36-14

Jelani (Grey) vs Kyle (Pink)

Easily the game of the week, both excellent rosters that have maybe underperformed this year so far and haven’t lived up to the preseason hype but a lot is different and hard to predict with a year off due to a gross miss management of covid by the gov, federal and provincial. Whoops we don’t talk politics. QB matchup is crazy close, both championship pedigree and both can play solid D. Ill call this one even for now even though kyle has scored more thus far by a mile (highest scoring team), but his team is build for O, Jelani’s for D. Luc vs Giorgio in the preseason would be close but Giorgio has really looked great on O this year, making it tough for Luc to cover. I also think G has been looking very solid on D in his own right. Grae vs Neeraj is a matchup that likely wont happen on the field as both will struggle to cover eachother, but everyone will struggle to cover Neeraj so ill take Pink here. Remy and Jordan is an excellent matchup for 3rd rounders. Both have speed but Remy is definitely faster here. Both are working on their offensive skills and are good defenders. Take remy here. Missmatch season with Rion and Ryan for team grey vs any 4th and 5th rounders, sorry steve and jay. Pink wins the next trio with Rodney, jules and waleed over Greys Jerry, dante and their own Rodney. The late rounds are a tie as Nick is excellent and so is miller and Jamie. A real matchup of offense vs defence her. Grey being the elite defenders who can play O and Pink being the scorers who can play D. This is an offensive league, I think Pink takes this game, however Defense does win championships. Pink can score and their O can move the ball to help their D. They have shown more flashes of brilliance this year than grey so far. Grey will have to get all their horses playing together and in sync to win this. Close game still as Grey must be getting sick of all the doubters which should fire them up.
Pink wins 28-22

Spack (White) vs Jack (Black)

I certainly didn’t expect these two teams to have the opposite fortunes that I predicted in the preason. Either way, very impressive showing to start for team black and not so for white. QB matchup is closer than I would have thought, jack has looked great moving the ball on teams. Hard to go against a season vet who has won many times though, take spack here. Ill take nick for team black over Z, Nick is a beast on both sides of the ball. Nick is improving everyyear somehow still, its awesome. King and mario are both very similar players, big bodies, play hard both sides of the ball, good hands, call this even. Geoff and TJ will be fun to watch, Geoff has the speed edge and defensive edge, TJ the routes and the hands and experience, call this one even for now. Synder is balling out this year for black, give him the ad over Wilson. Quincey and Noah is close but ill take Noah for team black. Alex has been a fav of spack so take white here over staff. Craig for black definitely has the ad over Matt, craig shouldn’t be picked this late. Wyatt is a stud at rush so he takes it for black over james. The late picks have lovely beautires with warbird, jay and pete and Patrick, too close to call on this, they are all so awesome. The rosters are very close which makes sense since they were so close in draft order. Black seems to have the advantage in more spots and their depth could prove to be the difference in this one as team white seems to be riddle with injuries. Black is coming off of a huge win though and may come back to earth. White is clawing to get back to reality as most think they have quit. I think White finally puts up some points as black’s defense is susceptible giving up the 3rd most points this year. I do think white struggles to stop the young jack black though as well. This game could be high scoring and will be close. Which team will blink first? Both teams have the experience, white has the ad at qb though to keep it close but their horses need to heal.
Take team black in a close game 34-30

Glenn (Yellow) vs Noah (Blue)

Could be a mismatch here on paper but one team could play down to the other and the other could play loose thinking they are outgunned. The qb matchup is a battle of two speed demons who play excellent D. Actually both are more than capable but allow their athletes to play, nice guys. Anyways, Both can design a good offense, ill have to go with Noah here though. Jamie vs Frank is a tough matchup. Both take pride in the defensive abilities and both are rockstars on O. Jamie is playing incredible this year though even with all his injuries, take Jamie for blue here. Jason vs Tim, take tim for yellow, I haven’t seen much from Jason this year. Jack and Ben is again very close but ill take the savvy and wise Ben for team yellow again. Harrison for yellow also takes it over derek. Jomo over pinto for team blue here, Jomo is playing well, covid time off did him well to rest the old legs. Duffy and smart for yellow over justin and jesse. The later picks are very close with the clarkins and billy for yellow but I will take team blue due to peter and tony. The rosters are actually quite even and may even slide in favour of more matchups for team yellow here I am just not sure they can take advantage of it. Having noah and Jamie really gives them an edge over most if not all teams. Blue has been able to shut teams down with Jamie alone it seems and I cant see yellow being the team to be the first to score on them a bunch. I think yellow should be able to halt some of blue’s drives but the bad field position from their offense will give blue some short fields. This could be a big blow out but noah and Jamie are too nice and frank wont let that happen to him (again).
Blue wins 42- 18

Skills comp
Fastest man- Remy with Girogio as runner up
Longest FG- Jamie Whitter, Luc runner up
Punt- Rocca and murg runner up
Accurate qb- Kyle Clarkin beats Nick Mikos in the final
Most burgers eaten- Tyler Fraser with an honourable mention to Adam King and Bryce
Most beers- Tim McCaskie with an honourable mention to Frank and Duffy DUFF MAN

Power rankings after 4 weeks
1) Blue- Undisputed top dogs still
2) Pink- Good win and I think they have the guns for this
3) Black- who would have though they are top 4 at this point?
4) Red- hard to drop them out of the 2nd spot too far after a loss without their qb
5) Grey- Still an excellent roster but not top 4 atm
6) Royal- looking good with a W
7) Yellow- they look better than white so far!
8) White- common man!

Red stood no chance with me as QB, it was basically an exhibition game for us... Blue didn't quit on us though, as expected, it is the spirit of the league to break your opponents spirits.
QB is much harder than it looks, so much respect to all who play that position. I was just able to re-attach my elbow yesterday from those desperation throws on Saturday...

Red gets back on track this week, we will win.

I think I threw as many picks as Jelani though.... so that's saying something...

@Bryce.. you did well.. and if its any consolation, your TD throw to TO was ridiculous, I don't think many QBs can make that throw, definitely not me!

It's like golf, you just need one or two to keep you coming back out.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again at full strength.

I’ve been hiding out, given how horribly wrong my predictions were last week. The time has them blocked from my mind so I can’t even summarize for you.
On to this weeks bold predictions:
1. Red vs Royal: Expect a slaughter. Jesus is back, and word is he’s feeling really aggressive. Bryce had to throw last week so lost a week of Tuddies, yet remains atop the leader board - he’s hungry to climb higher. He wants more and more, like a stockbroker in the 80’s with a bag of coke. More!!! Bold prediction: Bryce scores 22 in a lopsided red win.
2. Grey vs Pink: rough loss last week for grey, and an easy win for team pink. What will we see from these squads this week? Who knows. Both have shown flashes they are real contenders, and both have shown observant minds how they can be beat. And no, I’m not going to tell you their weaknesses. Pay attention, grasshoppers, and you will see. I think pink will win this one in a close game. Bold Prediction: Jelani won’t throw a single pick, and he himself will pick Kyle twice. One coin, two sides.
3. White vs Black: I almost don’t even want to watch this game. Black is rolling and hitting stride on both sides of the ball, while white is desalinated by injury and possibly morale issues. Black will clean up, even though Spackman and company won’t go down without a fight. Bold Prediction: Dave ‘Warbird’ Warburton will be the top scorer for white this week - 14 points for the battle-bird, and tried and true veteran of this league.
4. Yellow vs Carolina: probably another slaughter this week. Yellow has shown some life from time to time and lost some close ones, but seems star-crossed and at this point in the season seems on a collision course for a battle of winless teams with white in the last game of the regular season. Bold Prediction: Frank will control his emotions this week and play with focused passion for the first time this year. The result will be 18 point, two picks, and one sack.
That’s all for me gentlemen, enjoy the skills competition, stay safe, and keep ballin’ y’all!
