Ball Placement

- Kick off - (see kickoff section)
- Successful field goal - Offense has the option to start on their own 35 or receive a kickoff from the other team’s 45 yard line

Hey @the refs

You must not be feeling too dangerous. Mr. Anonymous eh. These cats aren't professionally trained.

Play with spack for 11 years and get every call against you. Learn to just play. People get salty. I love extra salt on my wings.

I'll still cheers to that comment though.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Franky! Big respect that you play nationals this weekend.

We play together on Sundays in PTBO.

But this week we are rivals in wmfl. You may be better than I. But I'll bet spack over your qb. Even though I like your qb

;)

Going into last week of regular season. Some things I noticed:

White showing some life. Still going to be tough to overcome attendance and injuries but having the best qb in the league and overall best player helps.

When red has their top dogs, this team isn’t losing. They will need to get by blue and maybe black again but they are likely finals bound.

It looked like blue was scoring at will with only one Whitter and one or two other guys. Sure no Jelani, but no excuse for grey to let blue have people that wide open when they only had 4 receivers. double cover everyone!

Jack on black (21) had an average outing but black is loaded and to me, two of black red and blue will be in finals.

Nice to see royal score some points. They may win a game and ruffle
Some feathers in the round robin.

Yellow has a defense but no offence, they have no offense.

Pink is talented and can be scary but Don’t think they are in same tier as black red and blue

Lot still to be decided

This segment is called:

Where Colin was Right! Where Colin was Wrong.

Black (Jack) vs Yellow (Glenn)

Predicted this game correctly, sort of, I thought it would be a blowout but it was only a 2 score game. Very shocking display this season and its time to give Black some credit. Only one loss on the year for the rookie QB and the team is clicking on both sides of the ball. Great group of guys to play with for sure. Albeit they have yet to play the class of the league in team blue, that should be a good matchup test for team black but they are on a nice winning streak now. A little shocked they couldn’t put up more points vs yellow but a win is a win. As for team yellow, again struggling on O but they did keep the Black offense somewhat in check. Their only hope is playing team white next week to get a W, although this doesn’t look like a sure win as it may have a couple weeks ago with team white starting to return players from injury. Yellow needs to make some adjustments before the start of playoffs and try something new in the last week of the season. Good or maybe bad news for these teams, the regular season standings don’t matter come playoff time as the records resets. Playing for confidence now.

Royal (Drew) vs Spack (White)

Got this game incorrect as I picked royal to win a low scoring game. Instead the opposite happened and white won a high scoring game. Apparently Drew was absent and Tuna lead the charge for Royal putting up excellent numbers? In the preseason I would say this is a good result for Royal scoring a bundle on strong team white. Now I am a little disappointed they couldn’t beat weak team white. I am impressed they were able to score their season high in points by a lot, scoring 34. That has to give them confidence. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stop team whites offense much and it resulted in a loss. Royal has a tough matchup next against team pink which is a rough way to finish their regular season. White has a chance to beat yellow next week and move into the 6 seed if that matters. Not much to take away from this game other than a strong tuna performance and a sudden awakening from team whites’ offense. The white defense still looks abysmal though, or was it tuna looking great?

Grey (Jelani) vs Blue (Noah)

Not sure if I got this correct or not, I picked a blue victory but not by a landslide like it was. Team grey really struggles without their QB. Really no excuse that they couldn’t stop a weak team blue though. This could be a case of a really deep team blue with excellent leadership from Noah showing that they are truly the class of the league and a fav for the title this year. Or perhaps this is just team grey not playing well and super inconsistent in the season. I think it’s a bit of both, I really like everything team blue has done this season on both sides of the ball with the whitters taking over the league, even without Jamie they dominated a preseason contender. Jack whitter challenging his brother for the INT lead! Grey needs to pull it together, sometimes teams can wake up come playoffs and I think this could be the case for Grey with a championship calibre QB. A big test next week against Red though, this could be a good measuring stick/barometer for them. Blue on the other hand has a nice test against a preseason weak team in team black who has really played strong this season. Both teams play hard each week and will be vying for the 1 seed along with team red. Its all wide open! Since I am newer to the league I assume tiebreaker is head to head with red beating black, blue beating red, so black and blue could be interesting.

Red (Joe) vs Pink (Kyle)

I got this game incorrect as well. I thought Pink would put Red in their place and it didn’t happen. Pink had one of their lowest scoring outputs of the season which is an ode to how strong team red is on D. Pink is now middle of the pack but I feel like they are a much stronger team than they are leading on. Red however is looking like one of the teams to beat when they have their QB at the helm and able to play on D. Clutch win for red scoring late in the game shows they can handle it when the pressure is on. A little worried about team pinks ability to do that, yes the QB has championship pedigree but it’s a league and a sport of “what have you done for me lately” and they need to get used to winning and closing out games on both sides of the ball. They give up a lot of points and score a lot which is fun to watch but also scary for them. Hopefully a confidncee boosting game next week for team pink vs Royal who could be going through a QB controversy. Red has the interesting test against team grey. Red could be playing for a top seed although I think blue has that tie breaker. Curious to see if these teams match up again in the playoffs will the result be the same, was team red playing to prove themselves with a rookie qb and kyle and pink playing a little lacksidasical knowing the regular season isn’t important? Time will tell!

I was 2 for 4 on the picks , and 13 for 24 on the season, ouch. Hardly breaking even. It’s a wild year folks!

Power rankings after 6 weeks. It feels like the championship is wide open with only a couple of teams that I don’t see having a chance.
1) Blue- Undisputed top dogs still
2) Red- Excellent win over a top team puts them here from 4th in a swap with pink
3) Black- Not a great win so cant move them
4) Pink- Middle tier team after a tough loss. Still has potential obviously
5) Grey- Still an excellent roster but struggling on O badly
6) White- Finally showing some life
7) Royal- Great offensive performance in the loss
8) Yellow- hard to play the top team, need to get a W to get out of the basement

This weeks Week 7 picks. The ending of the all important regular season!

Jack (Black) vs Noah (Blue)

In the preseason I would have had this as a 4 seed vs and 8 seed and for this is be boring, however, now Blue is a top team and Black is only 1 loss away from being tied. Two tops teams this should be fun! Blue has the top scoring offense and top scoring defense, while Black also has a top 4 scoring offense and defence, however, they haven’t played the big dogs yet. QB matchup is closer than in the preseason but it is still a mismatch in favor of blue and Noah. While Nick is a stud in his own right this year for team black, Jamie is simply a monster on both sides of the ball and he seems to be improving everyweek with his chemistry with Noah also getting better, Take Jamie and Blue. These top two are such a mismatch. I haven’t seen much from Jason this year so ill have to take the sturdy King for team black in this one. Jack has really risen through the ranks this year and will be a tough matchup for TJ. TJ has great offensive prowess and maybe a bit stronger in that sense but Jack has the defensive. Call this even. Ill take the excellent physique of Snyder for black over Derek even though Derek is being used well. Noah and Jomo is a very tough call, call it even. Justin and Jesse vs Staff and Classen is a win for black simply because Classen is on a mission this year! Wyatt and Peter are both steals to be picked this late, ill take the young Wyatt for black. Pete and Patrick over Tony even though Tony is a steal, Pete is the best center in the league. The matchups seem pretty even , if anything it is better for team black. But somehow week to week Noah makes magic happen from the depth in his roster, they are better than the sum of their parts! I cant see black slowing the offensive jurrgernaut in team blue, Blue will be able to score as usual. As for defense, Jack needs to avoid throwing at Jamie and Jack and he should be able to put some points up also, I just don’t think they can keep pace however they surprise me everyweek as I pick against them often and they come up big. Black has more to play for perhaps as they want to prove themselves and Blue is now coasting. Blue wont lose, perfect season perhaps?
Blue wins 38- 28

Spack (White) vs Glenn (Yellow)

Preseason this would be 6 vs 3 but now it is two bottom feeders. Shocking all around. Everything resets come playoff time! No one will be watching this game so there is no pressure on it, early game and the better game is on the north field. QB matchup has the advantage to team white here. First rounders I was going to pick Frank based on his play and he hasn’t been as cocky as in years past, now I will pick Frank over Z even more since I wasn’t impressed with the outburst on the message board from Z this week, Edge to Frank and yellow. Tim and Mario I would normally take mario but I hear he is still a bit hobbled and tim is playing great this year, looking younger, edge to yellow. Ben is looking great as well this year and will be even with Geoff if Glenn can utilize Ben. Wilson and Harrison is very close, I have to give the slight edge to Wilson and white though for his D ability. Quincy and pinto are dead even. Alex for team white over Duffy if they both show up the younger guy has the edge. For the late picks it depends who shows up here, the clarkins have a great connection and Smart and Billy are great dudes, James Warbird, Dougie and Jay are all staples in the league, call this even! This game looks like it could be a very close one based on their current play level and their rosters matching up. I think the big difference maker could be in the QB department, and this is no slight to Glenn of course. Also white is coming off a win and starting to get the offense rolling and I think they will keep it rolling here but not as many points as last week. Yellow may be able to put up more points than usual as the White defense has been the worst in the league this year which will give Yellow confidence going into playoffs and also make this a close game. I do think White wins this week but Yellow could steal it if they come out flying since white may get down on themselves with their string of poor performances.
White wins 30 – 22

Kyle (Pink) vs Drew (Royal)

Both teams are coming off tough losses and are looking to bounce back before playoffs. Kyle looking to prove he is a top team, and Royal trying to stay out of the basement/toilet bowl discussion. Lets get this going. Pink has the QB matchup by a landslide here in my opinion. Giorgio and Tyler are almost opposite players, Size vs Speed. Ill take pink in this matchup, G is playing great this year on both sides of the ball and is impossible to cover on the underneath routes or going deep, you don’t want him in the open field, ad to pink. Neeraj and Murg should be fun, both similar play styles, call this one even! Jordan vs Jake, both players are playing great this year but I will go with Jordan by a hair for team pink, Kyle is using him well, and Jordan can Punt 😉. Steve vs Will, I think this one is nearly even, maybe will has a bit more speed and of course he is the most accurate QB 😊, advantage to Royal. Jay and JJ are dead even, both are excellent dudes also. Ben for royal has the edge over Rodney by a bit. The later picks have a lot of familiar faces, Jules and Nick and Tim and Tuna, but I will go with team Pink because of the great Waleed!! No one will be watching this blowout that could get out of hand and the better game is on the other field. Kyle has one of the best offenses and I cant see Royal being one to slow them down, they keep rolling. Royal in contrary has one of the bottom 4 offense despite last weeks outburst, I think they will play well on O but Pink will make enough stops to win this. Both team with opposite point differentials of 62 and negative 62 is the tell tale here.
Pink wins 42-20

Red (Joe) vs Grey (Jelani)

Big matchup here! Both teams going in opposite directions lately. Grey losers of 3 in a row, red winning 2 in a row. The QB matchup would be easily for grey in preseason but Joe has looked great and grey has struggled on O somewhat. In the finals id take grey for Jelani’s clutch reputation, but in this one ill call it even for now, both slinging the ball and play great D. Roccasalva vs Luc will be fun to watch when red is on O, can luc stop Rocca? I think sometimes! Can Rocca stop luc, I think a bit less frequently. Take Luc here for grey! Grae and TO would be Grae in the preseason but TO has looked young and healthy this year, take TO for Red. Bryce and Remy, here we go! A matchup in the 3rd worthy of our fastest man, Bryce is a scoring machine and has the size edge, speed for Remy for sure, Ill call this even for now until I see how the matchup goes and how the QBs use the boys. Ryan and Rion should eventually stop the drops and get it going for Grey over Mark and Robbie. Give me danny for red over Jerry. For the later picks I will call it even for now, really liking Jamie and Nahgrieb’s performances for greyand I like Mike and Trevor and Higs for Red. While the standings have Red as the clear winner and Grey is slumping lately, I do think this is the time for grey to start pulling it together for the playoffs and make this close, but can they pull it together for a full game. Red will score as usual but grey really should be able to matchup with all their guns, perhaps they need a new D coordinator. Grey will struggle against a stout red D as has most teams like pink last week. Perhaps Grey is looking towards to the playoffs to turn it on or maybe trying to position themselves well for the round robin, whatever the case, Red wins.
Red wins 34-26

Power rankings after 6 weeks. It feels like the championship is wide open with only a couple of teams that I don’t see having a chance.

1) Blue- Undisputed top dogs still
2) Red- Excellent win over a top team puts them here from 4th in a swap with pink

@Colin. Love the weekly write ups. They are an enjoyable weekly read. But please don’t give Frank credit for being less cocky this year. Not only does he still suck, but now he’s boring too. Someone should put him on a milk carton.

After this week the round robin pools will be set. Looks like 1-3 up for grabs but blue is favourite even with a loss and a red win they will be first overall. Probably

Blue
Red
Black

4th and 5th is between pink and grey

Pink
Grey

And last three spots are white Royal and yellow depending on this week

Royal
White
Yellow

How does that fit in with our preseason picks?

Not over yet though, playoffs are where the legends are made. I wasn't predicting the all important regular season

Can the league please mandate that Jack and Noah both must rush. A duel between not just the arms, but also the legs, of these two gunslingers is what the league needs.

Love the new QB crop, maybe add Dylan to the mix.. and see if Drew can keep building. This league is in good shape for years to come.

Noah and Spack will be first ballot Whitby hall of famers after being dominant forces in the league for decades and they still are both at top of their games.

Good to see the league be so competitive

Snyder - Your quick wits are a wonderful contribution to this board. You’ll remember that in 2019 you had to work hard for your championship. Nobody handed it to you. But prior to that there were several years where the team that won the semi-final opposite Frank had the honour of receiving the trophy the following week. And it was made extra special when you were rewarded with shaking his hand post game and sharing a cold beverage with some light hearted jabs at the banquet after. But those years are long gone and the Frank of old is missing. That’s why he should be on a milk carton. You and I get that, but many young pups in this league weren’t alive in the time of milk carton jokes.

Kitch, you’re so right. Thank you for clarifying. If only we had a picture to commemorate those banquets of old. One that shows the good natured, and mildly alcohol-fueled jesting and fellowship between the victor and defeated Frank.

If the quarterback throws the ball in the end zone and the wide receiver catches it, it's a touchdown
