Do we have any idea of the playoff format? Or will it be decided after the games Saturday?

Quick analysis of where we stand:

Matt - Clearly the favourite to win. Team is loaded and Matt is a proven winner. They have dominated everyone the played until this past weekend which brings us to

Noah - He contends every year and his teams have fun. Great comeback win Saturday and their D had multiple stops in the second half against a juggernaut. If any team can beat Matt, this team has proven they can do it.

Kyle - He can only play who is on the schedule but it feels like he has played a lot of teams without their QB or top level talent. But Giorgio is a game changer and Kyle can move the ball. They will a lot.

Mike - If everyone is there, this team is loaded and Mike is another proven Champion. If it comes down to a Raf bowl, he has a chance.

Joe - Streaky. Has great games and then a few stinkers. Don’t see any reason this team can’t win a round and then who knows..

Jelani - Evey flipping year. Looks like hot garbage and then some light switch flips this time of year. The gap is large between this team and Matt or Noah, but if anyone can pull off another unexpected run, it’s Jelani. Or maybe it’s expected.

Scoop - Team hasn’t had time to gel with injuries and attendance. Maybe they will hit their stride at the right time. No QB controversy here. Frank filled in admirably, but Scoop will take the reins from here.

Spack - Anyone have him down here at the start of the season? He has played as best as can be expected with an average of 5.5 players showing up. Needs a win this weekend badly.

Jack - Seems to be in almost every game but just not there. If he beats Spack, probably gets the honour of playing Matt. Or do we even know the format?? Long shot but he has a big arm and some great players.

Shaw - Glen has held his own, but this team went down when Shaw did.

Thoughts?

Looks like everyone has a chance to make it in the top 8? If someone can do a scenario breakdown that would be great, because i cannot figure it out.

I too would like to know what the playoff format and seedings will be going into the last week and a confirmation on the tie breakers since it’s looking likely to come down to that.

Come on execs stop stalling and put something in writing already!

Looks like whoever wins between Shaw and Spack will make top 8. Extremely unlikely Shaw will win without him and how poor they’ve been without him even with the almighty Papa Smurf at the helm. Then it comes down to Scoop and Jack. If they both win or both lose I believe Jack will go through because of head to head. Scoop will have to win and Jack will have to lose for Scoop to go through.

There are countless scenarios which each team faces to make the playoffs. I'll try to cover every, if not most of each, scenario that all 5 teams need to get into the final 3 spots. I'm not taking ties into account because that's far too much effort for this rushed analysis.

6/7/8 seed scenarios

Jelani
Pretty simple. Win and Jelani gets the 6 seed. Losing is a little more complicated. Beat Spack and Jack. Lost to Shaw.
Loss to Scoop with wins by Jack and Shaw would lead to a 4 way tie at 3-6. Jack would get 6th. Shaw would get 7th and Scoop would get 8th. (Jack > Shaw/Scoop, Shaw > Jelani/Scoop, Scoop > Jelani) This is the only way Jelani could miss the playoffs if group head to head games is the tie breaker. Otherwise, point differential is the deciding factor in a 4 way tie (including a Spackman win)

Jack
Beat Scoop. Beat Shaw. Lost to Spack and Jelani. Win by Jack and win by Jelani would give him either the 7 or 8 seed, pending the outcome of Spack v Shaw.
A loss by Jack would require a Scoop loss to maintain a playoff position.

Scoop
Might have the hardest road to a playoff spot.
A win vs Jelani and a Spackman win over Shaw puts Scoop in the playoffs. 7 seed with a Jack loss and 8 Seed with a Jack win.
A loss to Jelani means both Spack and Jack must lose and the Point differential is the deciding factor in the 3 way tie with each team beating each other.

Spackman
A win over Shaw and a loss by Scoop or Jack puts Spack back in the playoffs to defend his title. A win by both Scoop and Jack creates a 3 way tie for the final 2 spots. > Point differential.
A loss by Spackman requires both Scoop and Jack to lose, creating another 3 way tie. > again, Point differential.

Shaw
Easiest team to calculate.
Win by Shaw puts them in the playoffs.
A loss by Shaw means they are out.

There may be more scenarios but I'm not putting in any more energy into this. Good Luck to everyone out there this weekend. Stay healthy and have fun!

Interesting scenarios...
Just to throw a wrench in the above equation.
Based on the posted league rules, tie breaker is decided by:
1st - H2H
2nd - Points Against
3rd - Point differential.

It very well could be decided on Week 9 points against as 3 of the 5 looking to reach are with 6 PA of each other.

Points Against
Jelani - 297
Scoop - 267
Jack - 295
Shaw - 301
Spackman - 317

Jack is in with -- Jack W or L & 28PA margin to Jack' current 295 or L.

If we get a Jack + Shaw + Scoop Wins, having a 4 way 3-6 tie, it's best to wait and see what the PA will be.

Top 5 have their own scenarios as well. Where Noah could finish as high as 1st and as low as 5th.

It doesn’t matter who wins this week because those candy ass teams are going to get the smack down on November 1st by Matt, Kyle, Noah or Mike!
