WMFL playoff format rule 6.7: Keeping in essence of the Spirit of the League, on the final Saturday of the season, Kitch should be expected to play against Tank. If not possible, then provisions will be made to ensure Jelani either plays with or against Tank.

If Franks team made the top 8 playoffs, would they be in the finials right now? Makes you wonder.

Perhaps Frank should take a shot at QB next season. Especially after years of absolutely zero success as a receiver.

I’m going with a score of 44 - 36 for team Matt I think this game is high scoring but a few turnovers from both teams will keep it close.

I played against both of these teams this year, and from what I have seen I got to pick Kyle in this one, I was more impressed with their speed and ability to win the tough games.

Kyle 48 - Matt 32

Jelani vs Scoop (Frank?!)
Team Jelani enters this week’s matchup in unfamiliar territory. “Playoff Jelani,” known for yearly trips to the A finals, fell short for the first time in several seasons and now finds himself battling in a lower championship bracket. Across the field, Team Frank has rallied behind their new QB, who’s proven he can air it out and spark the offense despite the squad missing the playoffs. This marks the third meeting between the two teams this season, with each side claiming a win so far. With the series on the line and both teams eager to finish strong, this matchup promises a competitive and story-rich showdown. Frank wins the deciding game.

Spack vs Shaw (Glenn?!)
Spack enters this week’s matchup looking to reset after a difficult stretch that included a playoff stumble and a forced forfeit last week due to low player turnout. Despite a challenging season, the back-to-back champ aims to finish strong as they battle through the final game. On the other side, Team Glenn has also faced its share of adversity, fighting through injuries and a tough win–loss record. They showed grit in last week’s narrow defeat and now look to channel that resilience into a revenge win against a longtime rival. With both squads hungry to salvage pride, this rivalry showdown has all the makings of a spirited season finale. Give me Spack.

Mike vs Noah
Mike enters this week’s matchup looking to rebound after a narrow, high-scoring loss to Kyle. Despite the defeat, Mike’s squad showed strong form and proved they can keep pace in an offensive shootout. Meanwhile, Team Noah is also aiming to bounce back after falling to the league’s top-ranked Team Matt. Noah’s team is known for lighting up the scoreboard, but last week they were simply outgunned. With both teams coming off tough losses yet boasting powerful offenses, the stage is set for an explosive showdown as each side looks to finish the season strong. I'll take Noah in this tight game.

Joe vs Jack
Team Joe enters the upcoming matchup with a familiar narrative: another strong regular season followed by postseason frustration. Despite consistently positioning themselves near the top, Joe’s squad once again fell short of a finals berth and now competes in the C finals. Team Jack, meanwhile, has battled attendance issues all year but still managed to sneak into the playoffs. Those same challenges contributed to an early exit, yet when Jack’s roster is full, they’ve proven they can hang with anyone. With a complete lineup expected and a chance to silence the Hill, Team Jack aims to close the season on a high note in what should be a tightly contested finale. Jack wins a close game.

Matt vs Kyle
Team Matt enters the Finals as the clear powerhouse of the season, dropping only one game and dominating opponents on both sides of the ball. With a chance to cap their remarkable run and earn Matt his second title of the year, they aim to deliver a statement performance on championship night. Team Kyle arrives as the resilient underdog, having weathered injuries all season yet still clawing their way into the finals. Their thrilling overtime semifinal win—sealed by a walk-off field goal by Giorgio—proved they can rise in the biggest moments. Now, Kyle looks to shock the league and topple the juggernaut in what promises to be the year’s most anticipated showdown. Kyle upsets and shocks the world.

This final should be a great game and will be close.

Team Matt

They have been the best team in the league all year and have been lucky enough to stay fairly healthy throughout.

On offense they are tough to stop because they have so many weapons. Nick, Alex, and the two Derek's are consistent, reliable targets.

On D, they boast 5 guys who had at least 2 picks, including league leader Tony.

Team Kyle

This team has not lost since their September 27 loss to Matt. They have had their share of injuries and I am pretty sure no one thought they would get this far when Tyler went down with his injury.

On offense, their main man is Giorgio, but in the playoffs they have gotten great production from John and Peter as well, taking some of the pressure off. Kyle is also one of the best in the league at taking what the D gives him and using the many WMFL vets he has. Tim and Pat M, Nick, and Geoff.

They boast a solid D as well and will take advantage if the other team makes mistakes.

What will happen?

Matt's team has been rolling all year long, with only 1 2nd-half stumble that cost them the perfect season. I don't see Kyles team being able to stop them.

If Tyler were healthy this would probably give Kyle the advantage, but this is the one game where him missing will hurt the most, especially on D.

Kyle keeps it close and fights hard to the end, but I think Matt pulls away to a 2-score win, 46-32

Fake News. Dr. Nick prescribed some special cream prior to midseason. Kyle’s team has been Crabb free ever since.

The championship matchup featured two teams whose paths to the Finals could not have been more different.

Team Matt, the league’s powerhouse, entered the final game with overwhelming expectations. They had lost only a single game all season, and even that loss—ironically to Team Noah—was avenged convincingly in the semifinals, where they dominated from start to finish. Statistically, Team Matt looked nearly unbeatable: three of the league’s top four scorers played for them, along with the top two interception leaders. Their quarterback, Matt, had been the model of consistency and explosiveness all year, putting up nearly 50 points per game, and the defense complemented the offense well, giving up just 22 points per game. Everything from their season-long performance to their roster construction suggested they were the favourites to take home the title.

On the other side was Team Kyle, a group that had spent the season battling adversity. Their season turned difficult when they lost their second-round pick, Tyler, to injury—an early setback that would have derailed many teams. Still, Team Kyle’s resilience became a defining trait. Their top pick, Giorgio, delivered a standout season, finishing second overall in scoring and keeping the team competitive in tight matchups. The challenges continued in the playoffs, as they lost another key contributor—fourth-round pick John—during their semifinal game. Yet despite being shorthanded and often outmatched on paper, they found ways to win when it mattered most. Both of their playoff victories came down to last-second field goals, showcasing their grit, composure, and ability to thrive under pressure.

All of that set the stage for a classic David vs Goliath showdown in the Finals.

From the opening whistle, Team Kyle refused to be intimidated by Team Matt’s reputation or their statistical dominance. They played with urgency and confidence, matching Matt’s high-powered offense and capitalizing on opportunities whenever they appeared. As the game progressed, it became clear that this wouldn’t be another routine victory for Team Matt. Team Kyle executed a smart game plan, limiting big plays, maximizing their own possessions, and maintaining momentum at crucial moments.

Despite Team Matt’s firepower and season-long dominance, it was Team Kyle who rose to the occasion and delivered the defining performance of the postseason. In a stunning upset, they defeated the heavily favoured Team Matt 37–26, completing a remarkable playoff run marked by resilience, clutch execution, and overcoming adversity at every stage.

The victory not only crowned Team Kyle as league champions but also cemented one of the most memorable and improbable Finals results in the league’s history.

Team kyle lost both regular season games to the Rafuses. Then team kyle beat both the Rafuses in the finals. Avenging the beat down by team Matt in a spectacular manor. Great team effort both on defence and offence. Giorgio proved again that he is a presence with or without the ball and he cant be keft alone

???? The Core of Champions: Why the WMFL is Suffering from Historical Amnesia

The posts above capture the immediate drama of the 2024 Final perfectly. We have the hot-take artist declaring Kyle the QB GOAT and Matt a "choke artist"—which, frankly, is an overreaction given Matt Raf's dominance this season. We have the well-written, measured recap that beautifully frames the "David vs. Goliath" narrative of resilience versus statistical supremacy. And finally, the essential fact-check reminding everyone that Team Kyle avenged their regular-season losses to both Rafuses.

But there is a glaring hole in the collective memory of the WMFL, and it needs to be filled.

The league is suffering from historical amnesia. The story of Team Kyle's success—yesterday and throughout the past decade—cannot be told without acknowledging the consistent, championship-level mental fortitude and sustained success provided by so many members of this team.

The narrative of "stunning upset" ignores the institutional knowledge of how to win Finals that Team Kyle carries:

• The Dynasty Duo: Tim & Pat McCaskie have just completed an incredible 3-peat! Their ability to consistently perform at the highest level is unmatched in recent history.

• Back-to-Back Champions: Giorgio and Nick have just pulled off consecutive championships, establishing themselves as players who know how to close out a season.

• The Clutch Constant: Kitch has now won 4 of the past 8 championships, making him the definition of a winning factor in the post-season.

• Proven Performers: Tyler has won twice in the past four seasons, demonstrating that the winning environment is not a fluke but a standard.

This is not a story of luck; this is a roster steeped in championship history.

So, should anyone be surprised by what we saw yesterday?

Of course not.

When the chips were down, Team Kyle didn't rely on hope; they relied on muscle memory and a culture of winning. They didn't just enter the 2025 Finals; they carried the weight of four separate championship lineages onto the field.

Kyle is a GOAT QB candidate because of his physical gifts and clutch throws, but history teaches us that championship pedigree is a multi-layered thing. The winning formula isn't just one player's stat line; it's the convergence of talent, and sheer will that forces championship execution when it matters most. Matt's team was statistically superior, but Kyle's team was historically superior at winning the final game.

To understand Kyle's claim to GOAT status, we must look beyond his quarterback statistics. His latest win is his fourth WMFL Championship—a feat that solidifies his legacy not just as a great QB, but as the ultimate two-way champion:

1. Championships as a Player: Kyle earned his first two rings playing a key role on both sides of the ball, showcasing the defensive leadership and versatility that many forget he possesses.

2. Championships as a Quarterback: He has now added two more rings as the field general, orchestrating the offense.

He is not simply a talented passer; he is a legitimate, high-level defensive leader whose experience, tactical understanding, and ability to elevate his performance on defense were instrumental in this team's survival and dominance. The ability to win multiple championships in different eras, under different roles, is what truly distinguishes him.

He did not just win the game; he executed on all four championships' worth of experience.

Well written. Quite the opposite of my story.
As any Frank would say, "A championship does not define a player. A good ol' throw of the hat does."

When one can reach the heights that I have, then maybe we will have a conversation about what it means to be truly great.

Thanks for listening to my cope.

Matt has proven he is a,great quarterback and was a great receiver. He just happened to face the OG of the league and it proved to be too much to handle for team Matt. And yes the rest of Team Kyle also showed up hungrybto win.

Way too early questions.

1. Will there be 10 teams again next year? 8 seems ideal with all the discourse around only 8 teams making playoffs but 10 was a lot of fun having the regular season games be more meaningful.

2. Who are the QBs next year? We have a stout top 8. Rumour is both Scoop and Shaw aren't returning after unfortunate knee injuries. If 10 teams, do we see Frank take a stab after years of failed championship runs as a receiver, or are there more qualified QBs ready to step in? Who would be the 10th?

3. Is Giorgio a top 3 player in next years draft? Often slipping into the mid to late first round, He's won back to back championships with 2 different QBs.

4. How do all the rookies fair in next years draft? There were a ton of players who played way above their draft grades. These could have been one off seasons but for the most part, many of the new faces were stellar on both sides of the ball. an exciting future for the WMFL.

5. Likely the biggest question of them all. Does Dave Z make a much anticipated return to the WMFL after making an appearance at the finals, and how does he stack up after taking a year off football? Is he rested, healthy, and ready to rock? Or will the time off lead to a LeVeon Bell type fall off? Only time will tell.
