Hey -
What time does mighty silver play this weekend. My computer tells me that the schedule is a 'corrupt' file.
I asked myself how it could be that Baby, an inferior team, was able to beat mighty silver last week. I found the answer through some internet research and some support from a friend in CSIS. Good readership, i always wondered how it is that TJ is such an amazing football player, but also dances with the grace of fred astair, and sings like the great justin beiber.
Let me tell you what i uncovered:
- TJ is actually just his first two initials only
- He is actually TJJ Bradimore
- 'TJJ' = Tito Jermaine Jackson Bradimore
TJJ, as he is known in certain circles, was able to draw on the power of his namesakes and channel their power. It is the only explanation.
Well done Baby, congratulations on your win and good luck against Green next week.

Thanks for another good season guys. I must say though, as someone who puts the football secondary to the comraderie and stories at the bar afterwards, I was very disappointed at the lack of attendance after games at MP's. What was this all about?

they stopped serving toast there a couple years back so the camaraderie migrated to beers on the hill...attendance at Mel's has been limited to the draft and the year-end party (I hope!)

on that note...there is a party back at Melanie Pringles after the finals...Mel will put out a buffet (wings, chilli, caesar salad in the past, I'm assuming she's doing this again this year) and year-end awards and swag will be handed out...plan on attending!!!

to come and see "The Sound of Music" at St. Mark's United Church, November 30, December 1,2,3. Great show to bring your family to!!

If you come on the 30th or 2nd, you may see a couple of known WMFL players on stage, singing and even, gulp... dancing.

No hints as to who it might be, but if you don't know, you will probably be surprised...

See www.stmarkswhitby.ca for ticket info...

A blonde and a brunette are running a ranch together in Louisiana. They decide they need a bull to mate with their cows to increase their herd. The brunette takes their life savings of $600 dollars and goes to Texas to buy a bull.

She eventually meets with an old cowboy that will sell her a bull. "It's the only one I got for $599, take it or leave it."

She buys the bull and goes to the local telegram office and says, "I'd like to send a telegram to my friend in Louisiana that says: Have found the stud bull for our ranch, bring the trailer."

The man behind the counter tells her, "Telegrams to anywhere in the U.S. are $.75 per word."

She thinks about it for a moment and decides. "I’d like to send one word, please."

"And what word would that be?" inquires the man.

"Comfortable." replies the brunette.

The man asks, "I'm sorry miss, but how is your friend gonna understand this telegram?"

The brunette replies, "My friend is blonde and reads REAL slow, when she gets this, she will see COM-FOR-DA-BULL."

It might be only coincidence, but in the same week that underdog Baby takes on powerhouse Green in the Championship of the WMFL, the surprising Lions play the undefeated Packers in the NFL on a Thanksgiving Day classic.

Note the colours -- it's a perfect match. Also a perfect match is the fact that Detroit's pass rush is going to dominate the game, making Aaron Rodgers finally look human, similar to the way Gil Benight is going to give Miller fits on Saturday morning. TO is going to play the part of Megatron, and I normally wouldn't compare myself to Matthew Stafford, but he's started wearing gloves himself after seeing me throw the ball ... just sayin'.

Tim and I have a friendly wager on a pitcher of Coke on the outcome of the game (we're not drinkers), and I think we should make it double or nothing for a plate of wings, too.

Imagine the disappointment for poor Tim, when his Packers lose their perfect 10-0 record on Thanksgiving against the Lions (just like they did the LAST time they were 10-0), and then he'll cap his WEAKend by losing to upstart Baby.

Man, I wish that this board was reset so that I could have trash talked more. This whole thing is convoluted and rushed, but I'm trying to at least get something in before leaving for Detroit.

What else can I say? Uh ... Miller, you SUCK! If you were a REAL QB, you'd try to throw at TO and me. Don't be a sissy ... trust Tim and Ben to make some plays. C'mon, gunslinger ... the whole hill will be watching!

Go LIONS!

I heard Dave won't be there this weekend, apparently he's moved to Canmore to become a local politician. He was actually invited there by the town to deal with their 6:1 bunny:person ratio when they heard about his "Kill the Beavers" platform in Oshawa.

"Canmore has hired a contractor to trap the long-eared hoppers and have them gassed"

A little better 3-2 last week. Still not as good as I was in the regular season.

Hey folks, this league has never and will never be only about 2 teams or even 4 teams as someone posted on the board. There are 5 games this week, all which may be really excellent games to watch. If you don’t come to see them, you are missing out.

So we are at Championship weekend. Not only in the WMFL, but in all Canadian football leagues that really matter. Supposed to not be bad weather now Saturday morning in Whitby. I wish I could be there, but will be our here in Vancouver enjoying the Vanier and Grey Cups. Lots of great football taking place in the Great White North!

Remember folks, 2 early games this week and only 1 late one…

Henry North - 8:00 – TOILET BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP – Red vs Black (Ref SILVER)

Red won the regular season matchup 25-15 in week 4

Black has looked much better in the playoffs and down the stretch. However, it’s been a long year for this team and I expect that will continue. Red and it’s new QB have probably learned a lot this year that he will be able to carry forward into the future years. I expect it won’t be long before he is a fixture at the other end of the playoffs…

Take RED

Henry South - 8:00 – D CHAMPIONSHIP – Teal vs Orange (Ref BURGUNDY)

Orange won the regular season matchup 49-41 in week 8
Orange won the playoff matchup last week too…

These two get to play each other again. They have had two very good games thus far and I don’t expect any different this week. It’s very hard to beat the same team 3 times in one season, but I suspect Orange will be able to do it.

Take ORANGE

Henry South - 9:30 – C CHAMPIONSHIP – Navy vs Burgundy (Ref Toilet Bowl Champ)

Burgundy won 60-30 in week 2

Nice to see all of Burgundy out last week, as I thought they would. I expect them to be there this week as well. If all of Navy shows up as well this could be a really great game. These are two QBs that like to beat one another, so they should have lots of motivation to win. In the end, I will have to go with the team that has been more consistent and better all year long.

Take BURGUNDY

Henry North - 9:30 – B CHAMPIONSHIP – Silver vs Gold (Ref D Champion)

Silver win 28-22 in week 8.

The precious metals bowl again… Who knew that all it would take is a big win by Baby over Silver to make them completely quiet on the trash board. Will they show up now that their dreams have been dashed??? I have confidence in most of their team, quality SOTL-types like the Schleiffers, Clarkins and Snyder that they will be there. Gold gave them a tough matchup the first time. If both teams get their full lineups out the game will be another good one.

Take SILVER

Henry North - 11:00 – WMFL CHAMPIONSHIP – Baby vs Green (Ref WMFL Exec)

Green won the regular season matchup 41-24 in week 7

I think we have learned over the last two weeks not to read much into the regular season games that Baby played in. They have been a very different team in the playoffs. Should I revert to my regular season strategy?? Let’s take a closer look…

QB – Miller vs Bradimore – Edge to Green based on arm/accuracy, but TJ has played well in the playoffs.

#1 Option – Wray vs Pierre – This is an interesting matchup. Intensity advantage goes to Tim, but overall talent goes to Chris. Let’s call it even.

#2 Option – Payne vs Brooks – Both are tall, solid options that play a key role without fanfare for both teams. Both will make a big play at some point in this game. I have to call it even.

Carquez vs Siekowski – Matty has played very well in the playoffs. Edge to Baby.

Hanley vs Sabadin – Jomo doesn’t get the respect he deserves. He has been a very important part of Green’s excellent season. Edge to Green.

Cain vs Hubenig – D.Cain is a “secret” weapon for Miller. He has played very well all season and will make a couple of plays in this game. Rodney is a solid player, but edge to Green.

Hat picks… - Both teams have a couple of decent players that have contributed to their teams, especially in the playoffs. I don’t believe that any of them will be game-breakers in this matchup, call it even.

Other than the last week of the regular season, Green has played pretty consistently all year long. Their game will not change. Baby, however, has turned it on in the playoffs, after looking pretty poor all season. They are rolling and have a bit of an advantage with the confidence of beating the first and second place teams in the first two playoff games.

This game will come down to one big play and I think Green will be the team that makes that one big play.

Take GREEN

In the other, less important games of the weekend, I think I will go with McMaster on Friday to win the Vanier and the B.C. Lions to take the Grey Cup on Sunday.

Wow, what a fantastic season. I haven’t decided whether or not I will be back next season… I might have to join my friends MMQB and Tipster in retirement.

Have fun and remember to leave it all out on the field boys!!

Well what can i say.. I'm going to snap!!
I don't care if its on my own team or not. I thought maybe i would go for SOTL Award... Naw i don't fuckin think so!!

I will tell you why.. I've been sitting back and trying to have fun this season, but i just can't take it anymore.
#1: If i get told by one more kid on where to play and how to play this game.. I'm going to lose it bad. I know how to play this game, i have been in this league awhile. I'm not saying that i'm a great player by no means, but i do know how to play this game.

#2: I'm so sick and tired of these kids runnin around with the egos and bullshit.. ( I have personnally taken some heat for some of these kids with egos on my team.. By the way, YOUR FUCKIN WELCOME! Man up and admit to your own mistakes.

#3: Also do you guys think you can give your egos a rest for 5 mins or so, so that maybe, just maybe, someone could play bit of offense.. I see you's suckin wind and won't come off the field when there's 2 guys fresh on the sidelines... I seem to remember these guys paying the same money as you to play.

So.. Be prepared! I will SNAP!!

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the woman's face was severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn’t graft any skin from her body because she was too skinny. So the husband offered to donate some of his own skin. However, the only skin on his body that the doctor felt was suitable would have to come from his buttocks.

The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no one about where the skin came from, and requested that the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the woman's new beauty. She looked more beautiful than she ever had before!

All her friends and relatives just went on and on about her youthful beauty! One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was overcome with emotion at his sacrifice. She said,
"Dear, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me. There is no way I could ever repay you."

"My darling," he replied, "think nothing of it. I get all the thanks I need every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek."

wow, snap - you have some 'innie' rage issues that look to be moving towards being 'outie's'. Don's snap at me please, it would be embarassing if i had to use my patented fighting move on you at the field (i turtle immediately, and my oponent breaks their foot on my fetal-positioned body).
Speaking of one-sided battles, just wait till you see the domination that mighty silver lays on gold. Steady O, and dominant D will make a winner of thee - says Snyder to the fine lad of mighty silver. One more to close out the season boys!
Good luck to everyone (except hated gold) this week - and a big thanks to the executive (and all the other guys who volunteer their time to do various things) for all the work they put into making this league a great place to play.

I would apologize for the delay in posting, my children, but i am the shepherd and you are the flock so i don't have to apologize to you for anything.
Perfect again last week, and my early season prediction of baby vs green in the final comes true.
As for my predictions this week, the last of the WMFL season . . .
Red/Black - one team most would have predicted here, the other a surprise. Does anyone care who wins this?
Orange/Teal - deja vu? Yes, and result remains the same. Comes down to QB play and Colin is the steadier trigger man.
Navy/Burgandy - If both teams get decent rosters out, this is the final game that could have been but didn't happen. Still, i don't think Noah and the boys have the juice to carry this one - burgandy take it.
Silver/Gold - Did anyone realize that silver and gold are playing for bronze? That amuses me. So too will this game - it would be nice to see both teams play like they can versus how they have. Give me a good game or i will smite thee all down.
Baby/Green - Will baby look more like TJs abandoned colts, or his bandwagon lions and their big win over the packers. . . oh, wait, lions lost bad at home. could it be that easy? yes, green takes the belt home this year - but don't get cocky Miller, this is a very smart baby team and they won't let you get away with being less than perfect.
That is all my children. Enjoy the final games and the banquet to follow.

Usually there is a wait list and some new guys don't get in.

There is no financial commitment until next spring.

The rumour mill is swirling. The word on the street is that this season, a QB picked himself as MVP. If this is so, that's embarrassing for the QB involved especially considering he had the talent on his team for them to win, but his useless QB skills wouldn't allow it.

Shame on you, sir.

To Mr. Concerned the actual players picked for MVP and SOTL on that team did not show up to the year end. In fact only two players showed, so it seemed fitting to give them the awards after a small discussion. Obviously it was not that important to the rest of the team to show. By the way certain members of the exec. agreed with it. If you were there you might of known what went down?

Hey guys. Thanks for a good season. I must say though, the main reason I play in this league is because of the comaraderie, the stories and the banter amongst players at the bar after the games. Because of the area I live in, I haven't been able to make many games over the past few years, but this year I made a concerted effort to be at as many games as my schedule would allow. While I certainly enjoyed seeing some of my old mates again, I was disappointed at the lack of attendance at Melanie's after the games. I couldn't attend the year-end party due to a conflict in schedule, but I do recall that almost nobody atended Melanie's after the mid-season games. What gives?
