Week 4 done, only one zero in the standings, sorry Miller. In a spirited affair, the mighty Patriots were toppled by the Cowboys. The previously unbeaten 49ers also had their zero popped by the Packers. Four teams atop with just one loss, still waiting for the reschedule of the Packers-Cowboys tilt. Was it raining on Saturday? Just asking because of Noah's Redskins' loss...maybe I missed something.

Unfortunately I don’t have game recaps to post for you TJ, but the standings and scores were updated yesterday (even though I didn't start this new thread on Trash Talk until today), and the scores were updated in the WMFL Google Calendar (link and ID on web page) on Saturday. Anyone out there want to help TJ out and post game recaps?

Packers - 49ers recap

Saturdays mid game contest between Greenbay and San Francisco was a hard fought battle between the ( previously) unbeaten 49ers and the short handed Packers.

Unfortunately for the Niners, the outcome was not the same as the Nfl contest played between these two teams a few weeks prior.

San Francisco was without their #1 selection , Chris Heath, due to an injury.

Green Bay was without their up and coming deep threat, Ben Payne, leaving this game short on star power.

Green bays offence was methodical in its approach as veteran quarterback Mike Rafuse did a great job spreading the ball around.

Goal line threat , Ron Carquez , was targeted several times for two touchdowns and a convert.

Ciaran hickson had a flawless receiving day and even added an important two point conversion.

Green bays defensive coverage was strong all day and had they been able to contain the ramblin, scramblin Chambers within the pocket , the score may not have been as close.

San Francisco's quarterback, Jason chambers, did his best Steve young impression as he scrambled away from several near sacks by the Greenbay rushers.

With a few less dropped passes by the San Francisco wide receivers and the result of this game could've been much different.

Sam Francisco's Jays Schleiffer was a threat all game utilizing his break away speed on both ends. Chambers targeted Jay several times and he turned several short routes into big plays. Jays YAC was off the charts.

The game was within 1-2 scores the entire game and San Francisco just ran out of time.

Final score :

Packers 37 - 49ers 28

Even with the loss , San Francisco is still holding top spot in the wmfl.

Green Bay improves to 2-1 and with two key defenders absent , they could challenge Baltimore for the best defence in the WMFL

Browns - Steelers Recap

One of the late games featured Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Cleveland's defence was the story of this game as they held Pittsburgh scoreless for most of the game.

Cleveland slowly built a lead by driving the field and scoring a field goal on each of their two early drives.

Cleveland quarterback, Ryan Meyer, was efficient and targeted his top player, Dave Z , on several deep passes.

Pittsburgh was able to keep pretty good coverage on Cleveland's top threat, however Meyer was effective hitting his other targets to keep the chains moving.

Pittsburgh quarterback, Adam King, showcased his arm strength all game. However he was unable to connect with his deep threats.

King was with out his brother during the contest, but with TO and Andrew Staff leading the charge he had the weapons to compete against the Browns.

Once King can harness the deep ball, look out everyone, because he can stretch the field and opposing defences will have a challenge stopping them.

Pittsburgh was able to make a late charge however there just wasn't enough time after a dismal first half.

Pittsburgh had several new faces that looked legit on both ends.

With the win, Cleveland moves to 2-2, while the loss drops Pittsburgh to 1-3.

Final Score:

Browns 28 - Steelers 16

I second that nomination.

I also suggest that he go to thesaurus.com so that he doesn't run out of ways to describe how much the Giants offense is going to struggle playing against the mighty Ravens D.

While you're there, you can find new ways to describe our offense, which is finally rolling.

Unstoppable.
Synonyms: unconstrained, uncontrollable, unquenchable, unrestrained, insuppressible, etc.

TJ, this is an intervention.
There are a lot of people on this board who really care about you, but you have to stop with your delusional rants. It can ruin your life. Stop now, i beg you.
Ravens vs Giants are like boys playing against men, or like liliputians vs, well, Giants! You get the point - if we weren't all playing in teh WMFL i would have no choice but to say the two teams aren't even in the same league!
Besides that, Craig and i have a new intel gathering scheme which will guarantee we win the all important game of preparation en route to yet another dominant victory!
Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of Ravendum!

In the interests of saving you time in your "intel gathering", here is a breakdown of basic defensive coverages in the WMFL:

Man (also known as "cover 0")
Cover 1 (Man coverage with a free safety)
Cover 2 (or "4 2") Two safeties high, four defenders playing in a short zone.
Cover 3 (or "3 3") Three defenders deep, three defenders short.
Cover 4 (or "2 4") Usually only used against Colin in years past, this strategy also appears to be in vogue against strong armed QB's King and Meyer.

The Ravens have implemented a new defensive strategy, never before seen in the WMFL:

Cover Everything.

Now granted, we will modify it this Saturday; Any time Snyder is on the field, we will run our patented "Cover Everything" play, but will double rush the QB and leave Matt open (he can't catch anyways).

From time to time, we also run the "interception play". I can't divulge the nature of that play, as it's top secret, but I will let Nick know that the smart play on his part when he hears that call (we call it out loud) is to just throw the ball into the dirt and punt on 3rd down. Noah, in his stubbornness, refused, and so cost his team a chance at a competitive loss.

I hope that you found this Intel Gathering session helpful, and that you implement it efficiently en route to a 25 point loss.

you run the interception play on your offensive series quite often too! Interesting stratgey to get your strong defence back on the field!

You must be confused, confused. The play which you mention is typically run on 2nd down, and is, in effect, a punt (i make it look like one, all wobbly and everything) in which we do not have to give yards, and is completely intentional. It gives us a shorter field to run back pick 6's, or in the event of a 3 and out (often), a good punt return tilts the field. In Noah's case, his 3 and outs didn't even include a punt, which underscores the brilliance of this tactic.

No team in the history of the WMFL has fielded a defense this dominant, and therefore this tactic is relatively new. As with all visionaries, there will be critics.

Just like Tim Tebow, our QB TJ combines all the fiery leadership of Ray Lewis with the throwing ability of, uh, Ray Lewis.

Come Saturday at 12:30, I will petition the league to change the name of the WMFL Giants to something more fitting. Perhaps one of the following would suffice:
Dwarfs
Shrimps
Runts
Midgets
Teeny Tiny Little Guys

Or, in an effort to be politically correct, "little people".

Snyder and Klassen are going to use their "intel gathering" as a poor cover to explain their absence from the board this week. The truth, however, is that they simply don't want to have to eat their words in embarassing fashion. The Ravens might have more total points than the Giants have total yards on Saturday.

TJ, while I admire your posts for their entertainment value, there are indesputable flaws with your logic and I fear that your already low self confidence may suffer a devastatingly brutal blow this weekend. Perhaps that is best, often a man must hit rock bottom before he can heal and recover.
As the readership and the good men of the league are well and aware, I am a very holistic individual and thus embrace the natural balance of the world. The Yin and the Yang, the positive and the negative, and yes - the catch and the drop. Thus fifty-fifty, and you are right to fear it TJ.
Craig and i have completed our intel gathering, and we are ready for your tricks - it was difficult getting in and out of the subbasement in your film room, literally hours of tunneling, but we have your playbook for this week and have already developed counters to everything you are planning. Fortunately for us, Miller was interred in a German POW camp during WWII, where he was part of the Great Escape, and was agreeable to passing along his hard earned knowledge to us. If you hear sounds in your basement, don't fear, Stu got stuck. We'll get him out next week.
As for your line-up, you have a roster of good guys who are all good players. Your problem is you face a lineup of great guys and great players - as Jim Collins tells us, you go from good to great. So maybe next year TJ. This is the year of the Giants!

Here to clear up an old misconception:

It is a little known fact that not only did Miller take part in the Great Escape during WWII, he also reproduced his stunts of the time for the film of the same name.

If you look closely at the motorcycle stunt man, you will see that I mean.
Many have thought that Steve McQueen did his own stunt driving, but it was none other than Cpl Dash Miller!

Hey #88,

Thanks for that grammatical gem you just displayed. Apparently you have as much class as you do brains.

Damn, "The Hill" beat me to it, I might have been faster in my response to #88 but it took extra time to figure out just what the hell he was saying. Just curious, English...not your first language, right?

As for the content, seriously, if you’re just kidding maybe consider dialing it back a bit – you're not coming across that way (at least to me), but I suspect that the vitriol that you're spewing is serious. That being the case I gotta tell you, I really don't want to hear it. Not sure exactly which Patriots wear the numbers you've posted, but I'm pretty sure that they have more class and talent than you do. I saw a bit of the 'spirited affair' from the hill and can tell you that while shit happens in the WMFL it doesn't happen very often and when it does it's usually pretty easy to determine its source – I don't think I need to post numbers for you and everyone else to know who I'm talking about. Considering your age and skills don't worry about being discovered by any scouts on the hill.

What looks like a Dez Bryant ...
... dresses like a Dez Bryant ...
... and doesn't have the skills to back up his talk like a Dez Bryant?

It's #88, on the WMFL Dallas Cowgirls!

Seriously, Dez, this is a fun league, and the trash talking is all in fun, too. Try to tone it down, keep the spirit of the league. Here's an example of how it's done:

Lance is going to have a monster game this Saturday, and Monsieur Snyder is going to be on the receiving end of it. If Snyder's a Giant, Lance is a Titan. Or, a behemoth. Or like a Giant-toppling WMFL football playing guy with the fierce competitiveness of a really competitive person who is feeling really competitive.

Ridiculous and nonsensical is better trash talk for this board than serious and cutting.

Ray Lewis, #52 Ravens.

Wow, I am getting worse, rather than better… 1-4 last week. Overall this year I am 6-13.

You know what?

I think I will take the week off. I know someone that is looking for work and may be they can breathe some new life into the message board. Perhaps if they do well they can take over…

Damn Gary Bettman!! Makes my Saturday nights really, really boring. I might have to buy an OHL franchise again.

So my friend Schultzy says he is struggling with his picks on the WMFL this season. He has asked me to give it a try. What the hell do I know about football? It’s players are almost as tough as Canadian hockey players!! Well, there might be a few in this league who belong in the KHL…

Thanksgiving weekend is here. This is the REAL thanksgiving. Forget about that American one. We are Canadian man, CANADIAN!!

Lemme see what I can do with these picks…

Henry North - 8:00 – Broncos vs 49ers

Miller vs Chambers --- Both great Canadian boys… Miller has experience, like Jarome Iginla, while Chambers is young and exuberant, like a Jonathan Toews. Give a plus to the experience. Advantage: BRONCOS
Dehaney vs Heath --- Heath seems to have a bit of an injury problem. Kind of like a Patrice Bergeron, will he play?? Dehaney is a hard worker with some very surprising skill, like a Shane Doan. Advantage BRONCOS
Gautama vs Schleiffer --- Guatama, isn’t he the guy that does security at the airport? He is fragile, like that Russian guy, Kozlov. Schleiffer is a good Canadian kid, works hard, keeps quiet. Kind of like a Corey Perry-type. Advantage 49ERS
Hanley vs Hendry --- I like this Jomo guy. Always there putting out the effort. However, Hendry is a very underrated worker. He is your solid effort guy, kind of like the Newfy boy Teddy Purcell. Advantage: 49ERS
REST OF THE TEAM – 49ers lost their first game last week. They have been playing sold team ball, like the great Boston Bruin teams I coached. Broncos, not so much. Looking kind of like the Leafs under Brian Burke. Advantage: 49ERS

PICK – 49ers keep the Broncos on the winless list…

Henry South - 9:30 – Packers vs Redskins

Rafuse vs Tumin --- I like both of these QBs. They remind me of the great team leaders of the past, Mario Lemieux and Joe Sakic. Both have plenty of experience and play well under pressure. Advantage: EVEN
Wray vs Anton --- Wray is in his prime, always gives it his all and has all the skills. Reminds me of Jordan Eberle. Anton is a relative-unknown, but a solid, solid guy nonetheless, may be a Jamie Benn type. I like him, just not as much as Wray… Advantage PACKERS
Payne vs Siekowski ---- Payne is one of the best up-and-coming talents around. Like a John Tavares, he will have many, many years of quality play in the league. Siekowski is like a fine wine, perhaps a Brendon Morrow type. Gotta go with the younger man here though… Advantage PACKERS
Katradis vs Higney --- Katradis reminds me of that mouthy Russian guy, what’s his name… Ovechkin, although perhaps he is not quite as talented. Again, Higney is a solid all-around guy, who always works his tail off. A good Canadian guy like Andrew Ladd. However, again… Advantage: PACKERS
REST OF THE TEAM – Redskins have been playing better of late, but in my mind remind me a little of the Flames last year. Not quite enough. The Packers are one of the best teams in the league. Advantage: PACKERS

PICK – Packers will win this one easily

Henry North - 9:30 – Steelers vs Patriots

King vs Hadden 1 --- We are going to go with the Haddens as the Staals, right. Colin, therefore is the Jordan Staal. Adam King is like Evander Kane, big, strong and talented to a level. I would rather take the playoff experienced Staal, so Advantage: PATRIOTS
Pierre vs Hadden 2 --- Mike Hadden is obviously Eric Staal in my minds picture. Pierre is so solid all around, reminds me a bit of a Joe Thornton. What a great matchup this would be 1-on-1. In the end, I think I will have to decide that I would take either one of these. Advantage: EVEN
W.King vs DaSilva --- I saw a picture of these two… Reminds me of a matchup between Zdeno Chara and Martin St. Louis. HAHAHA…. In reality, last week showed the problems the Steelers have without Wes. Dasilva will not be covering the big man, but he is an important cog to the Patriots wheel. Advantage: EVEN
Staff vs Matthews --- Matthews is another one that is an underrated talent in the league. He always seems to get overshadowed by his block-buddy. Staff is also very quiet and unassuming. They remind me of guys like Mike Cammalleri and Matthew Lombardi. Important, but not over-the-top. Advantage: EVEN
REST OF THE TEAM – Both teams filled out their rosters with experienced, good Canadian boys. No Eastern European wussys here. However, the Patriots seem to get better turn-out and effort from their bench. Advantage: PATRIOTS

PICK – Patriots will pull away in the second half.

Henry South - 11:00 – Cowboys vs Browns

Spackman vs Meyer --- Old hand vs young gun. Martin Brodeur vs Jonathan Quick. Two that are very, very good at their craft. Ryan is proving himself week-after-week. Spack is…. Well Spack. I have to go with the experience here. Advantage: COWBOYS
Wong vs Zmozynski --- Both very good players. New, young solid talents. Kind of a Jeff Skinner vs. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins type analysis I think. I like both, but if I have to pick, I take Nugent-Hopkins in this analogy. Advantage: BROWNS
Schleiffer vs Glover --- Mike S has played very well for the Browns this year. Getting out from under the shadow of Jay seems like it was good. Reminds me a lot of a Patrick Sharp kind of player. Glover is always solid, packing a lot of talent and speed. May be a Spezza kind-of thing. Advantage: EVEN
DeSouza vs Bird --- Can’t say I know much about this Desouza guy. Must be an American-born player --- May be the Leafs would like him, Burke loves the US college guys. Bird has speed and talent, reminds me a lot of a guy like Michael del-Zotto. Harness his talent and he could be very special. Advantage: COWBOYS
REST OF THE TEAM --- Both of these teams have solid, experienced lineups. Smart, Julien and the Clarks on the Browns, Nurse, Tower, Riggs on the Cowboys. Like the two best teams in the regular season last year, the Rangers and Canucks. Advantage: EVEN

PICK – This game will be closer than many expect. I think the Cowboys pull it out.

Henry North - 11:00 – Giants vs Ravens

Mikos vs Bradimore --- Nick is the old hand. Perhaps Ryan Smyth, been around for a long time, and still has a certain level of skill, but possesses a great mind for the game. Bradimore reminds me of a Mike Richards. So much skill, not considered old, but not young either. However, it’s like they are making him play defense. He isn’t a defenseman, he’s a centre. Advantage: EVEN
Carswell vs Blanche --- Two experienced full-out effort solid Canadian boys, these two. Should be a battle on the field. Patrick Marleau vs . Ryan Getzlaf?? Seems about right. Very close in talent, but one is definitely a little better. Advantage: RAVENS
Hischer vs Rafuse --- Don’t know this Hischer guy. Is he a new Swede or something?? Rafuse, I know. He is young and energetic, sometimes a little out-of-control. Don’t know if he is quite at the same level as a Steven Stamkos, but he does possess some of the same characteristics. I like Stamkos, so… Advantage: RAVENS
Klassen vs Walker --- This is an interesting matchup. Klassen is a tall, strong, underrated player, along the lines of a Ray Whitney type. Walker is more like a defensive forward type. Reminds me of a Michael Peca type. In this case, I like Whitney more. Advantage: GIANTS
REST OF THE TEAM --- Let me get this out of the way Snyder reminds me of… Jordan Tootoo. Strong player with hands of stone. The rest of the Giants are a young-gun squad, like the Edmonton Oilers. The Ravens are a more experienced bench, like a New Jersey Devils, although I don’t see any guy named Lewis on the team. Who is this guy?. Advantage: RAVENS

PICK – Ravens will run-away with this one

BONUS – 12:30 game – Packers vs Cowboys

I will use the same references for the players as I did in the other games…

Rafuse vs Spackman --- Mario Lemieux vs Martin Brodeur. Two of the greats going at it here. Love them both. Advantage: EVEN
Wray vs Wong --- Eberle vs Skinner. Again, I like them both, but have to take Eberle. Advantage: PACKERS
Payne vs Glover --- Tavares vs Spezza. I like Tavares… Advantage: PACKERS
Katradis vs Bird --- Ovechkin vs Del Zotto. Not even close… Advantage: PACKERS
THE REST --- I do like the Cowboys bench in this matchup. Advantage: COWBOYS

PICK – Packers will go 2-0 on Saturday. They win going away here…

Too bad you can’t see me. I am wearing a lovely suit covered in footballs. Not sure if this will work out. I hate writing so much. I said I would do it for Schultzy. I keep my promises.

By the way, Snyder there is a million comedians starving to death and you are still trying to be one…. (one of my best, check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSblkS9fBnw )

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Hey #88,

I think this is only my second post in 8 years, but I just couldn't resist. Let me first say it is spelled you're, as in you are, not your. Now that that's out of the way. Yes, you guys gave us a beating and all the power to you. However, I really hope we play you again with our full team, and all of our guys healthy. I'm not making excuses, just stating facts. I appreciate good trash talk as much as the next guy. Believe me! And I'm sure most guys in the league would agree, but you're coming across like an idiot. If its all a show, then congrats, mission accomplished.

I look forward to playing you guys again.

Next- Carter, loved the Cambridge thing. This board educates while it entertains. Just like porn.
Next - TJ. You suck. I will pick you twice!
Next - grapes. Good post, but you suck too. Stone hands crush opponents.
Next - #88. Don't whine, you gave more than you got and we only started calling it when you went too far. balance son, and don't be so flagrant. you were better when you played cleaner in the second half. If u really do have a peewee team I hope you tell them that. Keep posting.
Next - Blanche, young RAF, Rodney, carter, clarkins. You all suck.
Next - drew walker. You suck the most. Let JJ out of the box in your basement. At the very least change his gimp ball.

Henry North - 8:00 – Broncos vs 49ers

Miller having a tough time getting his team together hope he gets it together this week. Chambers losing his cool last week maybe that’s how you beat him.
Broncos (Miller ) By only ONE PLAY

Packers by more than ONE PLAY

Henry North - 9:30 – Steelers vs Patriots

I’m giving up on the Steelers they had most of their players out last week and can’t beat an OK Browns

I love to see that the replacement is comparing me to the Ovi of football, although "not as much talent". Great to finally be given some recognition after taking a beating the last few weeks on the boards by all the game analysts.

Thank you sir,

And I promise I will put on a show for you tomorrow.
