Congratulations to the Patriots for their regular season title, but we all know it's about the playoffs in the WMFL (What's that? Ah - Playoffs? Don't talk about - playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs?). Yes, playoffs! They start this week with the match-ups posted by some anonymous poster on Saturday (no, Raf, that wasn't me, I sign my posts, sorry for not getting the schedule up until Sunday afternoon). Here's how it looks:

#1 Patriots vs. #8 Ravens
#2 Cowboys vs. #7 Browns
#3 Packers vs. #6 Giants
#4 49ers vs. #5 Redskins
And in the "They-Gotta-Have-A-Game-To-Play–This-Week Bowl" it’s #9 Steelers vs. #10 Broncos

Don't forget to check the reffing schedule, we wouldn't want a playoff game to be decided by an 8 point penalty for not showing up to ref a game - that rule is still in place for the playoffs.

Looking forward to the insightful predictions (and Tank's blathering) on how the playoffs will go, not to mention the trash talk (has anybody heard from Snyder?).

I'll start...The reason the Browns are in and the Broncos are out is that the Packers lay down in their 9:30 game on Sunday to avoid the possibility that they'd finish first overall and have to play the #8 Broncos, who clearly would've beaten the Cowboys if there was something on the line.

Thanks for nothing, Packers! I believe last time the Packers and the Giants met in a playoff game (on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field) the Giants won to go to the Super Bowl. Clearly there's more on the line here in the WMFL Playoffs, but the outcome will be the same, the Giants will win, sending the Packers to the Consolation side of the playoffs where, ironically, they'll likely end up playing (and losing to) the Broncos. Karma's a bitch!

It's Movember and time to make a difference, that's why I let myself get talked into growing a mustache for the cause and ultimately looking like a 70s porn star by the end of the month. I'm doing my part, please help out the cause and do yours. My commitment is to grow a mustache for the month of November and in doing so, raise vital awareness and funds for prostate cancer and male mental health.

If you'd like to help make a difference, please donate to me here: http://mobro.co/duncanmcdonald1 I'll post updates there so you can see just how bad it looks and why you won't see the mustache at Christmas!

To be quite honest with you, this is the schedule that has been used, unaltered for the last number of years when we've had a 10 team league. It was not examined and/or modified from past years. I don't remember the rationale that led to 9th and 10th teams not reffing (there may have been some, on the other hand there may not have been)...for that matter, I don't remember the rationale that led me to be responsible for making the schedule...if only you'd posted your name maybe we could've found a schedule-maker who could apply some logic to next year's playoff schedule...it's not too late though, sign your criticisms and step up!

Just out of curiosity, what happens in the second round of the playoffs? Does the top seated team play the lowest seated team that remains? Or are the brackets pre determined?

I am so excited that the Giants will be facing off with the Packers in the first round. I have the utmost respect for the entire packers team - all good guys. But this week you fall.
Top 10 reasons that the Giants will beat the Packers this week:
10. Reality. Giants always beat Packers when it comes to playoffs. Its just the way it is.
9. Commitment. Stu was recently fitted with a bionic exoskeleton, and will be our counter to the goonish brand of football that allows T Wray some small modicum of success in this league.
8. Fate. Oven Mitts with stick um really do work. While this will also help Payne, advantage must go to me – a TD from Nick, and also one from Raf this week!
7. Scientific analysis. AC current is considerably stronger and more powerful than DC. Translates to the field – Alex Carswell powers a dominant O. Darryl Cain can barely keep the lights on!
6. Strategy. This is the game the Giants wanted in round one. Truth is we threw the first game against the Packers, in order to set up the first round meeting of our choosing. Such is our vision, and yet another flawless execution.
5. Zen. What is old becomes new again. Nick hasn’t won the title since mustache’s were awesome in months other than November, and Duncan wore one when starring in 70’s porn (in the 80’s, get him liquored up and he’ll tell the story). You’ve heard that Duncan’s stash is back, and the days of a stash being trash are gone overall. So it all lines up, its Nick’s time!
4. Hunger. Klassen's touchdowns and extra points while playing for the Steelers were just the beginning. Papa Nick, time to feed the beast!
3. Studliness. Giants are the giants of the WMFL midway. The Packers are, well, just cheesy.
2. Fame. 'Lotto' is planning to branch out to the (north american) football market and their representatives will be looking te secure Mario as their poster boy this weekend. The Italian Stallion will be bringing his ‘A’ game.
1. Kickinassedness. Oxford has confirmed after this week the word will be added to the dictionary, referencing the WMFL Giants as inspiration.
Good luck to everyone this weekend except the packers (although i do wish you luck tank, giorgio tells me he is going to 'eat your lunch', whatever that means). Looking forward to a great day of football!

Duncan eventhough in both cases we the 49ers are required to ref I agree that the bottom two should. I actually remember finishing in the bottom two a few years ago and reffing.
Redskins are going down, their previous win over the 49ers is currently being investigated for match fixing. It's the only reason I can see that an idiot would make that lateral.

Reffing assignments make total sense

Of the 9:30 games, the lowest ranked team is the Giants, so they ref the 8:00 game
Of the 11:00 games, the lowest ranked teams are the Ravens & the Browns, so they ref the 9:30 games
Of the 9:30 games, the lowest ranked teams (after the Giants who already reffed), are the Redskins & 49'rs, so they ref the 11am games

Only question is why aren't the toilet bowl teams reffing the 9:30 game?
They're toliet bowl teams for crap sakes! Lucky if they can chew gum and walk at same time. I know, I've been in enough of those games!!

OMG, I undertand the mind of DM!!
What's DM stand for again #88?

As for the rest of your post, it reminds me of the saying about 1000 monkeys typing for 1000 years (the concept is explained in detail here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem, lots of numbers though, #88, so you might want to get "TJ Ward" to explain it to you...on second thought, nevermind)

http://www.usctrojans.com/blog/2012/11/game-balls.html

A USC football student manager has been relieved of all duties with the Trojan football team for intentionally deflating, below NCAA-regulated levels, some game footballs used by USC's team during the first half in last Saturday's game against Oregon.

In related news, the WMFL's Cowboys recently hired a new equipment manager who, most recently, served as equipment manager for the University of Southern California Trojans.

After predicting the us election results, I'm bored. So I will take a shot at the wmfl playoffs.

1.) Colin scores. TJ stops scores. Will TJ stop enough scores? Not this time. 34-12 Pats.

2.) Spack seems back. Browns can hang though. Z what I mean? 30-22 browns in a shocker.

3.) Pack will be way too much. Not close. 44-20 Pack.

4.) 4/5 game will be tight. Better qb will win. 38-28 Redskins.

5.) anyone care? Miller will make up for week 1. 22-18 Broncos.

Did anyone find a purse on field last week? Heard primetime was looking for his. I think it may have his hands in it.

The regular season has ended and the playoff season is here. To wrap up my regular season results, I was 2-3 last weekend. 11-11 on the season for me. I guess the unnamed poster is right, I should pack it in and stop kidding myself that I know football.

Since the NHL and NHLPA have decided to start talking again, perhaps I will have to go back to my work at the CBC anyway. Until I can get in touch with my friend Schultzy and get him to take this back over, I will pick…

The second season is upon us. Will strong regular season teams like the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks from 2011 make the final or will an upstart team like the LA Kings last year find their way to the Championship. Since all games are 1 and done, there is no room for error anymore. I will try to predict these games without outlining the player-by-player matchups now. In the playoffs, it is less of an individual game and more about the “team” effort.

Henry North - 8:00 – 9th(Steelers) vs 10th(Broncos)

Steelers win 14-7 in week 1 of the season.

The Broncos were hot until the Cowboys knocked them off the tracks last week. Not sure if their hearts were in it after the Browns win had already eliminated them. The Steelers beat a full Ravens squad with a little help from a friend(Klassen) last week, but have been struggling ever since beating the Broncos in week 1. No one will be there watching, but this should be a good game.

Take the BRONCOS

Henry South - 9:30 – 4th(49ers) vs 5th(Redskins)

Redskins beat the 49ERS in week 7 45-28

I can’t think of a reason why Noah won’t be able to put up 45 on the 49ers again this week. Wait, is it supposed to rain on Saturday?? Yes, yes it is… Uh-oh Noah!! The 49ers need to bring their A game as the Redskins have been impressive in their efforts since that week 1 debacle that had everyone, me included, writing them off. In the end I think the 49ers have the better overall roster so…

Take the 49ERS in a close one…

Henry North - 9:30 – 3rd(Packers) vs 6th(Giants)

Packers dominated the Giants 36-12 in week 8.

The Packers had some availability issues last weekend, which led to them losing to the Browns and ending up in 3rd. This team is still the team-to-beat in my opinion. The Giants have some excellent skill, but they are still a young, inexperienced bunch, in general. Much to Snyders disappointment, I have to pick…

Take the PACKERS relatively easily (by at least 2 scores…)

Henry South - 11:00 – 2nd(Cowboys) vs 7th(Browns)

Browns beat the Cowboys 31-30 in week 5
Not only did the Browns win last week, but they also got themselves into 7th place and the opportunity to play a team they already beat once this season. Can they beat Spack and his bunch again?? They can, but I don’t think they will. Captain Dave will have his team ready to go this week and probably will have a few things up his sleeve for covering the mighty Z.

Take the COWBOYS in a close one.

Henry North - 11:00 – 1st(Patriots) vs 8th(Ravens)

Patriots won in week 6, 36-16

Wow, the Ravens ended up 8th? This is a pretty solid roster that has the skills to beat any team in this league. As good as they seem on paper however, their offense has been just offensive!! They won’t be able to hold this Patriots team off the board and probably won’t be able to hold them to less than 16 points, which is what they have averaged this season on O. For that reason, I see this game ending up just like the first meeting between the two…

Take the PATRIOTS

Another Saturday morning of rain expected. Have fun everyone!!

Dont worry everyone the purse was found. There was plenty of interesting things that I found it though. First, apparently Primetime isn't his real name, his birth name is Drops Alot but he also goes by Sixyard Punts. Oddly there were plenty of pictures of Patrick Willis in the purse, some pictures were of Mr. Willis being intimidate with his lady friends. Thirdly, I found Noah's play cards, as I already knew 100% of the plays go to his left. Finally, I found kernels but no popcorn - maybe Owens has the popcorn. The most interesting thing was that I didn't find his hands, where can they be? Hopefully he finds them before tomorrow.
